Are you serious??? This guy is a national laughing stock!

True, true, unrelated.

He does mean well - big picture.

Maybe not sharpest crayon in the box, or just hadn't thought thru what he said.

Or both.

I don't think it is knowable how many Canadians went abroad for medical treatment but assume that number is correct. That's great because it means that Canadians are apparently happy with the Canadian system.

But that does not mean that Americans want to duplicate it, or that they will appreciate that if done.

The airline with the highest customer satisfaction ratings in the US is Southwest. No meal, no seat assignment, no first class. But you get exactly what you expect to get.

Americans are accustomed to assigned seats and a meal in healthcare.

Somehow I doubt that people who have no health insurance and not option to buy insurance they can afford would balk at a single payer system that covers everyone. It does not have to be identical to Canada's to work. The USA is the only top tier country without health care for all of it's people. It does not make any sense. Canadians can't understand why it's even a debate. But then we don't understand the fascination with gun ownership either.

I was up at 04:45 this morning to help one of my boys work on memorizing the Declaration of Independence for school today. Here's a great place to start if you want to understand Americans:

You're probably right, but she and Nancy Pelosi would be the perfect team as far as I'm concerned.

It really is amazing that we have gone from peanut farmer to actor to CIA director to Arkansas governor to MBA to community organizer to Trump. Can't imagine that anyone on the planet could approve of all of them, yet here we are - American still standing.

As are many other countries. I wonder what would Don have done during the GFC? He may get his own chance in the few years he has. I notice that he typed this....

..But the people were Pro-Trump! Virtually no President has accomplished what we have accomplished in the first 9 months-and economy roaring

Sep. 27, 2017, 9:41 a.m.

Since it's 9months, I'm wondering just exactly what Don has birthed regarding the economy. If the economy was roaring, then there would be no fear of the reserve raising interest rates. It's similar the world over. While it looks like things are improving, no one can really pinpoint why. Because as soon as economists make a prediction, the opposite happens. It's become difficult to understand just what "is" behind the economy. I've been self employed for most of my life, in one of the most volatile industries, construction. We have historically low interest rates, a housing boom....yet interest rates have not moved because if they did, the fear being it would bring recession, or worse. If I were to make a prediction based on my years in the industry and past knowledge....it's not good.

There was this other tweet also...

ALABAMA, get out and vote for Luther Strange - he has proven to me that he will never let you down! #MAGA

Apparently Donald has deleted his tweets supporting this Luther Strange guy after he lost. I guess the President can't use a person who lost that he supported.

I am very pleased to see (assuming that you are correct) that the Australian economy is healthy. Economic success leads to freedom.

The Aussie economy "looks" healthy. But as we all know, something which looks healthy is different to something which is healthy.

Thanks for asking anyway...I was more interested though in, is your economy "roaring" for you? Do you notice any differences?

Donald Trump Refuses to Send More Aid to Puerto Rico, Citing Business Interests

"Trump has made it clear his administration isn't planning to allow any additional outside aid to get into Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria.

Speaking with reporters on Wednesday afternoon, [he] cited business interests as the reason for refusing calls from lawmakers and activists to allow international organizations and governments to ship aid to the island.

Trump said he was initially considering whether to implement a temporary waiver of the Jones Act to allow it, but decided against doing so as "a lot of people that work in the shipping industry…don’t want the Jones Act lifted."

The refusal to work with intergovernmental networks eager to supply aid to the devastated island was then echoed by Trump’s Department of Homeland Security.

The department did waive the Jones Act to aid Houston and parts of Florida
that were ravaged by hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

Senator John McCain, who has repeatedly fought to repeal the act, slammed the Department of Homeland Security for failing to extend the same relief efforts to Puerto Rico that it provided to parts of the mainland United States."

The economy has been growing for many years before the Trump administration took over. I would say that Trump has had very little influence on the economy. Especially since he and the GOP have struggled to pass any significant legislation to date.

Thanks for answering Brodie, he doesn't differ from many other politicians in that aspect, and when the economy goes bad, it's someone else's fault.

If there is no inflation, no or very low wages growth, no savings for people to spend except to use credit and live on the breadline... then there is little hope to raise interest rates by much and petrified to do so. Because no-one wants to be the cause, or go down in history fingered for an economic meltdown :)

No-one can say definitely where things are headed, you can talk up an economy, you can talk down an economy, at the moment because there are no answers or rescues if it does go bum up, to much cash was pumped out last time....everyone is treading very softly to not rock the boat too much.

It would be interesting to see what Don would do. He is going to have to be careful in what he says with regard to the economy, to inflate it too quickly, he just might find himself where he would not wish to be.

Low interest rates are not a bad thing, they help exports and repayments. But the economy needs spending to survive, not borrow, to spend, to borrow. More people than ever now, like our governments, borrow to pay borrow to survive. That's not a good sign.

Anyway, I just saw one of Dons twitterings, and thought I would ask the question, any noticeable change at all. I honestly don't know where he gets the time to watch footy matches and play on twitter :)

Let's not forget this fkr's idea of a war hero is someone who DOESN'T get captured.

See that Industirallies
translate this word into American if you can?
. Trump tried to help you and get a moderate elected but because of people like YOU pushing everything to the extreme left, it has caused a backlash and now you have Roy Moore. Congratulations.

See the new proposals for tax reform
Wants to bring business taxes down from 35% to 20%
Claims this will benefit the man in the street.
Hey folks, what about all those businesses run by Trump, in the Trump empire, run by the Trump family - gosh, they will be laughing all the way to the bank.
His business buddies will be happy as well, at last a cash reward for support.
So at least the rich will get richer.
As for the benefits for the man in the street - well, don't expect anything to filter through, you, know, administration costs, raw materials etc all swallow up the benefits - for all except the shareholders
.
BUT
ISNT THIS A CONFLICT OF INTERESTS FROM THE PRESIDENT?

John McCain is not a hero. He was a lousy officer, unqualified and only in his position because of his father. The songbird is no hero. The solider that forces the enemy to kill them instead of capture or who is captured and gives up nothing despite the torture is a hero. That is no John McCain. He is a pathetic songbird who used his POW status to enrich himself.

A true hero solider never talks of his service and never uses it to gain advantage, favor, power or riches. That is not John Songbird McCain.
