The trump presidency

A study published on Friday appears to confirm what news reports suggested long ago: President Trump’s campaign rallies were associated with a rise in violence when they came to town.

A city that hosted a Trump rally saw an average of 2.3 more assaults reported on the day of the event than on a typical day, according to the study, led by researchers at the University of Pennsylvania and published in the journal Epidemiology. The authors found no corresponding link between assaults and rallies for Mr. Trump’s Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton.

“It appeared to be a phenomenon that’s unique to Donald Trump’s rally,” said Christopher Morrison, a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania and the lead author of the study.

And it's good you can. Most Americans cannot to say nothing how they blur the distinction. However this is a network that is openly racist and misogynistic. And for that alone I refuse to play any role in its success.

Addendum - I did refer to "Fox and Friends" rather than whatever other part of that Ministry Of Truth calls itself.

Forgive me for my lack of research, but how do you justify labeling an entire network of musoginy and racism, when the most liberally cited source (CNN) has more lawsuits of sexism than any other?

Trump's lawyers are going after Stormy. Another new low, a sitting president suing a porn star.

President Trump, weighing in directly on the Stephanie Clifford case for the first time, claimed in court papers filed by his lawyers on Friday that the porn actress who alleges she had an affair with him violated a confidentiality agreement at least 20 times, exposing her to damages of at least $20 million.

CNN is reporting that she was prepared to use the phrase "...two-to-three inches - max...." and Trump went absolutely insane.

How..... erm...... small of him. upload_2018-3-16_23-55-50.gif

Perspective:
Let's compare Trump to former President Barack Obama in that regard. During Obama's first year in office, the S&P Index rose 35 percent; for Trump, only 21 percent.

During Obama's 2016, job growth was 2.34 million; during Trump's 2017, only 2.17 million. Trade deficit during Obama's 2016 was $502 billion; during Trump's 2017, a whopping $566 billion.

And that was with a Republican controlled Congress hell bent on obstructing him.

I’m sure you were calling for a balanced budget during his Presidency
And in comparison, Republicans and conservatives cried "deficit" EVERY time Democrats tried to pass a stimulus plan, or a jobs bill to help the middle class and veterans, though they didn't mind big giveaways to the wealthy.

NOW all of sudden they couldn't give a flying FUCK about the deficit.

The government can drown in a sea of red ink for the plutocrats not the general public. But Ryan hasn't gotten to Part II of his agenda. If you want to puke https://paulryan.house.gov/issues/issue/?IssueID=9969 were he says "Our government has a spending problem—a problem so large that it is driving up our debt, hurting our nation’s ability to create jobs, and threatening our future. In the past, Washington has not been truthful about the magnitude of these problems facing our country, but we can no longer afford to put off an honest, fact-based conversation on how to solve them." Knowing the base is clueless or pretty close to clueless and don't understand that a tax cut = huge debt he can get away with anything. Fox and Friends et al. has his back.

There’s no mystery about the Republican agenda. For at least the past 40 years, the G.O.P.’s central policy goal has been upward redistribution of income: lower taxes for the wealthy, big cuts in programs that help the poor and the middle class. We’ve seen that agenda at work in the policies of every Republican president from Reagan to Trump, every budget proposal from party stars like Paul Ryan, the speaker of the House.

This policy agenda is, however, deeply unpopular. Only small minorities of voters favor tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations; even smaller minorities favor cuts in major social programs. So how does the G.O.P. stay politically competitive? The answer is that the party has mastered the tactics of bait and switch: pretending to stand for one thing, then doing something quite different in office.

Republican lawmakers are a one-issue bunch. They want all the money, and they want it now. They’ll pitch this woo with sincere pouty-faces and talk to the little guy as if they care, when all they really care about is selling Shinola to the masses.

This strategy depends on cultivating clueless voters, which we seem to have in embarrassing abundance. Republicans aren’t even trying to hide their true agenda any more. They’ll just phone it in, dropping names like God and Jesus or hinting about all those scary brown people who might move into their neighborhoods.

But it looks like this strategy is starting to wear thin, even among the Deplorables. They may not vote for Democrats (let’s not stray into crazyland just yet), but they may have lost a bit of enthusiasm about protecting their predators. Having them stay home on election day is all we need.

When Democrats regain control, these blighted voters better beware. We’re going to hold them down and force them to have decent, affordable medical care. We’ll make them bake wedding cakes for everyone who wants to get married. We’ll threaten them with higher pay, workplace equality and retirement security. And if they resist, we’ll shove an intelligent, poised and competent president down their throats.

And it won’t stop there. Their kids will be sent to proper schools that aren’t religiously affiliated AmWay subsidiaries.

So watch out, Republican voters. We’re coming for you.

Obama did more damage to the budget deficit than all the other Presidents combined. Think about that about that for minute

Answer this what was the national budget deficit upon entering office and what was it when he left?

I'm glad you asked. Because people like you want to look at the numbers in a way that supports YOUR spin without taking into account the massive recession, the increased price of goods and services, and other Bush baggage that Obama inherited. Sort of like comparing what someone has to spend on a gallon of milk today with what it cost a decade ago.

The CORRECT way of comparing Obama's spending with that of his predecessors is presented in the article Klingsor linked above, and as he noted, from a not so liberal source:

Don't Blame Obama For Doubling The Federal Deficit

In which the following can be found:

"Republicans use a sound bite that the federal debt doubled under Obama. In looking at the numbers that is close to being numerically correct but falls short of being 100%. However when you take into account the Great Recession, making W. Bush’s temporary tax cuts permanent, increased Social Security and Medicare spending as more Baby Boomers retire and become 65 years old and the Afghanistan and Iraq wars he inherited the story is quite different."

"Using percentages is a better way of analyzing data in a lot of cases as it compensates when the data set numbers are larger or smaller from each other. Federal debt falls into this category as it increases over time. The compounding impact of growth can make using absolute numbers meaningless."

"... using data from the St. Louis Federal Reserve, these are starting and ending federal debt numbers since President Reagan. I’ve computed the total percentage increase and the compounded yearly rate."

"What the numbers show is that the total debt increased the most at 184% over 8 years and at the fastest rate under President Reagan at almost 14% per year. In fact, the three Republican presidents had the fastest growing debt on a yearly basis."

Reagan

  • Started Presidency: $965 billion
  • Ended Presidency: $2.74 trillion
  • Increased 184% or 13.9% per year

H.W. Bush

  • Started Presidency: $2.74 trillion
  • Ended Presidency: $4.23 trillion
  • Increased 54% or 11.5% per year (only in office for four years)

Clinton

  • Started Presidency: $4.23 trillion
  • Ended Presidency: $5.77 trillion
  • Increased 36% or 4.0% per year

W. Bush

  • Started Presidency: $5.77 trillion
  • Ended Presidency: $11.1 trillion
  • Increased 93% or 8.5% per year

Obama

  • Started Presidency: $11.1 trillion
  • Ended Presidency: $19.85 trillion
  • Increased 78% or 7.5% per year

President Obama’s debt actually grew at a slower annual rate than any of the Republican presidents even though there were events that negatively impacted the deficit that started before he became President."

And here's one MORE fact for YOU to "think about for a minute":

NINE OF THE LAST TEN RECESSIONS OCCURRED UNDER A REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION.

Keep in mind White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee maintains Trump never knew about the payment. Right. My lawyer mortgages his house to pay for stuff to protect me all the time from stuff I don't even know about. Doesn't everyone's lawyer do this?

I was talking about HIS lawsuit against Stormy Daniels

He has now opened himself up to "discovery"

As such HER Lawyer who seems to have his shit together way more than any Lawyer Trump has, can make him sit for a deposition. In THAT deposition Trump WILL LIE.

Yes he HAS LIED before in depositions for civil suits.

Being as Trump is the one doing the suing he can not hide behind that "the President can not be sued in civil court while he is in office" thing.

More power to the already powerful.

The deregulation initiative is a dramatic shift for the federal agency, which under President Obama adopted or proposed more than 80 airline-related consumer-protection and safety regulations — prompting an outcry from the airline industry.

"The airlines are pretty clear that they want every consumer protection law repealed or not enforced," said Paul Hudson, president of Flyersrights.org, a nonprofit group with more than 60,000 members.

Trump is only going what the GOP has done for decades campaign as one thing then once in office practice something very different. The man for the masses well that was just to get you to vote for me. He really doesn't give a shit about the masses. Get ready for hours on the plane locked up with no recourse. Welcome back hard times for passengers and good times for the bottom line.
