It is rare that I will stand up for Mitch. I heard one commentator say that had Mitch voted his conscience, a few more Republican senators might have joined him.
There still would not have been the additional ten republican senators needed for conviction.
And the other 35 or more Republican senators would have replaced Mitch as Minority Leader. That would be to long a bridge for Mitch to cross!
Let the courts sort this out while Biden gets his agenda approved.
Budget reconciliation only needs a simple majority in the Senate.
Biden needs to call for unity while moving as swift as he can to get his agenda passed and enacted!
Some of those exiled Republican senators just might help Biden out as they are already in the deep freeze of the Republican Party! One here for one provision, another for a second provision. Make it look bipartisan!
However, Mitch would have been immediately replaced as the Minority Leader.
