Ha Ha...I thought of using pound coins too, since I have a lot of them. Then I'd claim a 8 pound dick! But alas, they are too small. The 50 cent euro is almost exactly the same as a quarter though.

Here is a poor attempt at the 80pence club hahahaha. I used British 10 pence pieces. According to wiki they measure at 24.5 mm so 8 of them is 196mm = 7.716 inches
I started to lose it on picture one hence I had to hold the last coin on. On picture 2 my upward curve meant they kept sliding around so they don't look brilliant.
Maybe I';ll try the strip of card trick another time.
