WTF is going on?

You should know, you live in Texas, TexanStar. Maybe you can explain your state—or do it with help from Louie Gohmert.

Maybe you can also explain how fucked up your public-school text books are and what they’re doing to limit future Texas citizens with educationally-inculcated distortion and prejudice.

‘Don’t mess with Texas’? It’s fucked up enough as it is.

A bunch of bigots pretending that being pro-Isreal is the same thing as not being anti-Semitic.

That's all it is. None of it surprising at all, sadly.

It's also probably a lot of people who are actually ignorant of the policies and actions taken by Isreal in the first place who see other people get emotional about things they've basically made up in their heads. People who think with their emotions tend to be uninformed. They seem eager to get offended by anything, even if they don't actually understand it in the first place.

People are trying to make this Federal Law now as well

Sanders, Feinstein Urge Senate to Reject anti-BDS Bill: 'Threat to Free Speech'
Two of the most prominent Jewish members of the Senate warn that the 'Israel Anti-Boycott Act' will harm free speech in the U.S.

Senators Bernie Sanders and Dianne Feinstein sent a letter on Thursday to Senate leaders urging them not to promote a controversial piece of legislation that will penalize boycotts against Israel and Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

Sanders and Feinstein, two of the most prominent Jewish members of the Senate, warned that the proposed legislation, called “The Israel Anti-Boycott Act,” will harm free speech in the U.S.

When the *name* of the bill already sounds totally unconstitutional, you know there's a problem.

Does Texas have an Ambassador to Israel? (note - question for rhetorical purposes only)

Between exonerating police abuse of power, 50 different sets of laws (especially after every mass shooting) and a host of other shit; I question how much power the individual states should have at times.

Coming from the same state that threatened session, no not really surprised in the least.

Texas Republicans to Vote on Seceding From U.S

There are 26 states that have passed this legislation. California and New York are included among them.

There senators trying to get this passed at the national level as well. Bernie Sanders and Diane Feinstein, among some others, have been fighting to keep it from becoming Federal law.

Please don't eat the same bath salts that Chrys does.

Not eating bath salts, but California and NY, nor the 23 other versions of batshit haven't threatened secession.

I love Texas to; but with the likes of fuckhead pasty face Cruz, being on the ass end of the bible belt and this bullshit it's not surprising.

Are you really that astonished, it could happen in the land of the "Best Little Whorehouse"?

In my opinion the bigger question it will come down to is given that this lady is Muslim and of Arabic descent; was this an individual action at middle management or an institutional one of inserting new employment forms in her packet because she has a burka?

Some rules/laws regardless of right or wrong can enforced or exercised out of hand based on individual actions and their own biases. As an example the bullshit about showing ID Cards at an establishment upon entry, but then only checking African Americans.

Just because someone views things from a different perspective doesn't mean were dropping acid, doing ludes, smoking crack or taking salts.

Merry Christmas Tex

Yeah... neither has Texas.

The delegates at the GOP state convention are not an official legislature and the vote on secession never made it out of committee to a floor vote anyways.

And California does have its own secession movement as exemplified here: A plan to split California from the US gets another chance, while others are looking to break up the state

The best little whorehouse is a work of fiction. And I am astonished that this legislation could happen anywhere besides Israel.

No, it's a fucking state law. Governor Abbott signed it into law in 2017 and so the language showed up in her contract when she was renewing it in 2018. The text now shows up in the contracts of any contractors who are employed by state agencies (which includes her).

I fully expect the courts to rule in her favor, it's just a fucking weird piece of legislation. We're not talking about laws prohibiting boycotting Republicans, or certain churches, or American companies, etc. It's Israel and only Israel.

Why a Revoked Civil Rights Award for Angela Davis Is Causing an Uproar in Alabama

An Alabama museum’s decision to bestow a human rights award on Angela Davis, one of the most famous leaders of the civil rights movement, exploded into controversy in the past few days after pushback from community members derailed what would otherwise be a positive celebration of civil rights history and an opportunity to host a fundraising gala. Now, local activists are protesting, the Birmingham mayor has condemned an esteemed civil rights institute, and a “stunned” Angela Davis is herself planning an “alternative event” in the city in February. It’s a strange conflict, and it centers around the Jewish community in Birmingham and Davis’ support for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement that protests Israel’s treatment of Palestinians.

Israel is an independent nation.

Judaism is a religion.

Is there a connection? Certainly

Are they the same? Absolutely not.

A sixth grade student who makes an A or B in World Cultures should be able to tell how they are alike and how they are different.

Apparently, there are a lot of people who didn't make an A or B in sixth grade World Cultures. Some of them occupy important positions in government. They should really learn how the terms are alike and how they are different.

Zionism was the movement to create a homeland for the Jews. That homeland was established in 1948. Now Zionists are people, not citizens of Israel, who support the state of Israel when Israel is against other foes.

There are a lot of zionists who hold positions in both state and federal governments. Some suppose that Zionists are all Jewish. Nope. Not so. The fundamentalist evangelical Protestant Christian movement is overwhelmingly Zionist.

God was behind the creation of Israel. Israel will lead a glorious battle to end all battles against Satan someday, according to fundamentalist evangelical Christians. God's son Jesus will then return and reign.

I suspect that it was the evangelical Protestant Christians who got this bill passed, not Zionist Jewish people.

I am a mainline Christian. This is political junk as far as I am concerned.
