the daily kos.org reported that the Values voter group is in a state of anxiety and worry that Romney has already lost the election. the polls , although narrow, nationwide continue to favor Obama, and swing states, except for North Carolina , seem to be trending to Obama. My state of California shows Obama leading by more than 20 points. i have seen 3 Romney bumper stickers this summer, compared to dozens for Obama.
and the electoral map is very bad for Romney as well.
the fact that the Fraternal order of Police officers did NOT endorse Romney, as conventional wisdom assumed they would, hasnt helped either. They endorsed Bush in 2000 and 2004, and McCain in 2008. a significant number of delegates voted to endorse Obama.
added to this is the fact Obama outraised Romney by $114 million to $111 million in August, after falling behind Romney for three months, is another sign that Romney is struggling to get ahead by ANY measure.
Oh, and lets not forget the IOWA GOP elector who resigned rather than vote for Romney, then harshly criticized Romney as well. not a good news story for Romney in a critical swing state.
7 more weeks to go. what fun !!:biggrin1:

Look at Africa today. Look at black people living here. Was slavery right? No, but that's why we got rid of it so quick.

Ya know, you don't have to defend every thought by a Conservative mind, because not all of them are winners.

We can't say the holocaust was a hidden blessing for the Jews because it propelled them into the formation of their own nation.

Quick? So now we know who you really are. You're Michelle "Batcrap Crazy" Bachmann.

Nearly 300 years is not quick

Your statement is proof that you are only here to stir shit up. If the mods can't see that they must be blind.

Please go crawl back in your cave. You're lowering the collective IQ of this nation

This is one of the problems of our political system today. The fringe elements make statements that most sane people know are idiotic and they generally don't get flak from within their party for it. If civil discourse is to once more become the rule it is for each party to police itself and to discourage it's "idiots" from making the party look ridiculous.

Can you tell me what your article had to do with crutzbone's self-bumped OP concerning voting groups which normally supported Republican bases not doing so this year?

You're bating batshit crazy stuff yourself, don't flip out when you catch a batshit crazyfish.

It is relevant because the values summit was for so called Christian organizations and politicians to come together to discuss how to restore "Christian values" in this nation. The article I linked to was about a so called Christian legislator and how he feels we need to return to his idea of a Christian nation. His values and ideas were discussed in the article.

I can speak for the article you posted, but people within the party back away from stuff like this all the time. Maybe not as publicly as they should, but this dude has a freedom of speech and thought right same as others do and it's up to the voters to do away with such thought in their legislature.

But the problem is that the party leaders only back away if it becomes a problem for the party. Why wait until their is a firestorm of controversy? What is wrong with coming forward immediately to denounce statements that are intentionally divisive or just plain wrong? Is it more important to always win or is it better to sometimes just be the more moral one? Shouldn't we hold those whom we elect to represent us to a higher standard?

I see, but the religious groups championed emancipation and civil rights. That's their heritage, despite members of their groups feeling both events were abominations.

In this case, the guy says that slavery was a mixed blessing for African Americans. Terrible phrasing but I get what he is saying....when he goes on to say that African American students cause disruptions in the classroom....well sorry buddy we've got enough crazy on this boat, away with you.

You can be stupid all the live long day, just don't ever say it or put it down on paper lest others take your freedom of expression and use it against you.

Why is it when someone is called on their crap instead of a condemnation of their words we are just told it is a matter of freedom of speech? It's more important to win and hold onto or gain power than to do what is right? Todd Akin was looked down on by the GOP leadership after his remarks but it seems it was only because he was damaging the party. When it became clear that he wasn't going to disappear the party has once again embraced him.
