Have y'all noticed if you go to the Last page of a discussion forum, the dates are around 1969. DAMN, I didn't know computers were message board compatible in that time.

Possible typo, that is...since home computers didn't evolve too much till 1983. The crude internets about a year later.

I've noticed that as well. Someone explained to me once why that was the date, but fuck if I remember. It obviously was NOT 1969.

They jump from 1969 to 2002. Clearly, something was amiss, either a glitch or a mistaken date entry, about 5 years ago, but I'm sure there are members or "site historians" who can illuminate.

I remember when I first joined all I did was go looking and reading through old threads. I thought the date thing was odd as well, but I figured there was some reason for it.

I also thought all the locked threads were weird as I'd never seen that before.

It was a good year. Fond memories of the Jersey Shore and The Beatles last recording together.

Someone sent this explanation to my PM box...

"Unix and some other databases store their dates as an "epoch date" which is the number of seconds since January 1st, 1970 GMT.

If a date field is corrupted and ends up as just zeroes, then it is interpreted as January 1st, 1970 00:00 GMT. And when it gets adjusted to a US time zone, that throws it back into the previous day."
