US, Taliban set peace signing for America's longest war

Afghanistan's Taliban, US sign agreement aimed at ending war

A new peace treaty between the US and Taliban has been signed. This should lead to all US troops leaving the country in 14 months.

What do you guys think of this? Good or bad for the country?

I'm no Trump supporter, but I think he was the only president who could have done this. No Democrat could have pulled this off because the conservative press would have slaughtered him for losing the war. No establishment Republican would have done it. Only Trump, an anti-establishment Republican, could have pulled this off. So hats off to him.

President Obama was pilloried by the right wing when he exchanged FIVE Taliban prisoners for the return of Bowe Bergdahl.
This treaty calls for the release of FIVE THOUSAND Taliban prisoners. Crickets from the right wing.

That's why no Democrat could have ever d9ne this.

Never mind who got us in it in the first place besides that other little war in Iraq. And who apparently wouldn’t mind a war with Iran.

George W. Bush was the president who should have done this initially. But during his administration G.W.Bush rebuffed the Taliban's requests for negotiating a peace settlement and instead chose to continue the Afghan War, the foolish undertaking of a second Iraq War and to make a foe of Iran. American military action has left Iraq and Afghanistan in shambles and given impetus for hatred, revenge and retaliation directed at the American forces abroad - with Trump continuing this action and unwisely deciding to make war with Iran and reintroduce the use of landmines.

Trump to reportedly allow use of landmines, reversing Obama-era policy

Before Trump assumed the presidency it seemed that he valued human life and wanted an end to the sensless American military actions in the Middle East - but since he revealed himself to be just a cog in the U.S. Military Industrial Complex's War machine.
