Also I don't really care if someone is "decent" if their political views are shit. If someone has the ounce of humanity required to smile at me in a coffee shop or a gym but will make fun of people like me behind closed doors or actively attend rallies or vote yes on bills that are meant to oppress my community or contribute to harmful, repressive views then I'm not going to defend them just because of that one smile or kind exchange of words.

I’ve changed many minds simply by getting to know someone and trying to understand why they believe what they believe. You get nowhere by choosing to block people simply because of a vote. I know people who supported Trump for certain reasons, and voted against the party for others. But y’all kill me. Hell, as a black gay man, black people will be the first to vote against my rights.

But it is not my job to sympathize with or to educate every MAGA person around me as to why I am valid and why queer rights are important.
