After this man threatened to shoot two bikers, cops went to his residence to arrest him. In typical kiddie glove fashion the officers, apparently feeling no sense of impending danger or..... "fear for their life," did not pat this man down even though he had just pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot two people. They approached him as casually as you would walk up to a neighbor to ask how they were doing. And unfortunately the lack of caution cost two officers their lives as the man had another gun in his waistband which he used to kill them both. I must ask, would the officers have been this relaxed if this psychopath was black? FAAAAAAAAACK no. American police have used deadly force on black men for everything from turning their back to putting their hands up to informing the officers they have a firearm and even a car accident victim who simply went knocking on a nearby door for help.
And once again America's culture of assuming white = safe proves deadly. This is what I mean when i say color politics is not only dangerous for people of color. If these officers used the "imminent danger" approach that has become standard for men of color regardless of seriousness of the offense [or if an offense has even been committed] they'd still be alive. When they asked him to turn in his gun it was almost infantile, less like taking a dangerous weapon away from a violent person, more like a parent punishing a child by taking away their toy.
