This is so gay.
(congrats to my new hometown)
I think our success has to do with our new Cleveland Tourism Videos I and II.
Now you've done it. I'll be humming "our chief export is crippling depression" to myself for hours.
Look on the bright side...it's a hell of a lot better than being known only for your creationist "museum" featuring Jesus walking with dinosaurs, right? :biggrin1:
Having grown up in Cleveland (well, an inner-ring suburb), I'm so proud of my hometown for bringing the Gay Games in--and giving them a significant grant! I may try to head back to see some of them.
Also Kris--you got a job? In Cleveland? Wow, miracles happen.
"And after all we're not Detroit. We're not Detroit!"
But don't be too hasty with that. We are trying hard here in NE Ohio. This is America, where we have a scientifically educated population that is the envy of several third world nations.
And we're not Detroit.
Cleveland? Interesting place I am sure-although I can't really seem to recall.
How about you put up some photos of your handsome self in various naked poses around the city? (Just to reacquaint me with the place)
(I clearly will say anything to get Krispdx to post more pics)
Calgary had the gay rodeo when I lived there. Rednecks damn near blew a gasket.
Golly, after Chicago lost the 2016 Olympics I can't understand why Fox News didn't mention that Cleveland had won the 2014 Gay Games as a soothing consolation prize?
Honestly, does anyone know what events are being held? I mean there is the Cleveland Stadium for football, the Indians baseball stadium and the Cavaliers basketball arena, but is this some sprawled out quasi-Olympic event? Marathon races through the Cleveland Metroparks? Rowing down the Cuyahoga?
Is Brady Quinn invited? :biggrin1:
Little known fact. The International Olympic Committee went to court to prohibit the use of the title, Gay Olympics. That's what they used to be called before the Gay Games. Not Nice.
Opening ceremonies will be at Browns stadium ... from one TV news site: The eight-day event will feature 30 sports, 4 cultural events, opening and closing ceremonies at Cleveland Browns Stadium and community and cultural events throughout the Cleveland and Akron metropolitan areas.
They might have rowing events on the Cuyahoga, but if any of the participants are too hot, they may set the damned river on fire again ...
And Brady Quinn ... I happen to know that he expects to be traded very soon ... but who knows, maybe he'll have reason to come back for the Gay Games!
Well I hope it's a great event. When it was held in NYC in 1994 there sure were a lot of fun people in town looking for a good time. I did the best I could to satisfy their quest.
Being a NE Ohio resident, I hear things. For example, I heard that one of the games will be for the best Cher impression. "Snap out of it!"
(Big apologies for being a straight guy making a crack about a gay stereotype. Please forgive me but the Cher thing fascinates me.)
Well then this should be the official song of the event! OMG and people thought my hair was work in the 70's!

Congrats to Cleveland. The midwest seems to be a welcoming place.
Yeah, and who knew?! Turns out we have some gay folks here.:smile:
