I'll be blunt enough to figure you were refering to a style of tattooing and that you were meaning to say ''Japanese (irezumi) or Polynesian (ta moko)?''

I have both actually, but I prefer the Japanese art of tattooing hands down (Mehdi le Mair, but I'd love the chance to get a piece from Shige if I could).

The polynesian I've got was traditionally done, hand-poked, as a gift from a befriended tattooist from New-Zealand after I reconstructed his lobes recently (stretched lobes that had torn in two after a nasty frostbite nearly 8 years ago - healed up amazingly afterwards and the scarring is hardly visible by the way.. I'm quite proud seeing it had been so many years since the incident but we still managed to get them healthy, fluffy and in one piece again in no time), but if he wasn't a great friend that I hardly get to visit, I'd probably never would have gotten anything in that style done. Not that I not love the piece, but it hasa lot to do with the person that gave it to me.

So in short: Japanese.

Errr... Old-school or new-school tattooing?
