and the show was supposed to air on the cw, but then they changed their minds last minute and decided it's just air on hbomax. so my assumption is that because gossip girl wasn't meant to air on hbomax, when the already scheduled programming for it started(titans and doom patrol) they had to put the season on break. and now those shows have ended so they're bringing gossip girl back

It is not that weird, HBO MAX does have a heavily promoted show coming next week, Mindy Kaling's The Sex Lives of College Girls.

And the Gossip Girl reboot was always developed for HBO MAX from the first annoucement. They may have considered it for The CW a few years ago, before they ever announced it, but it surely wasn't last minute. It was ordered at HBO MAX specifically in 2019.

I am a little bit confused about the folks above who are confused at why viewers would expect nudity in the second half of the season. Did any of you see the first half? There was plenty of nudity.

It's not good at all. It's stupid, and his storyline basically revolves around him sleeping with anyone who stands still. However, the original show was awful, so perhaps this one is considered good by comparison.
