Thong swimwear at playa del carmen

hey everybody, I’m traveling to Mexico Playa de La Carmen, and I was wondering if has someone worn thong swimwear over there.
Did you see a man wearing thong?
Any tip about it?

Depends on the hotel and beach. There are a couple of European hotels that have private beaches. You’ll see topless and nude women and men in thongs.

Ok ok. No there are nos restrictions about it, sound like that. I don’t have problems wearing thong in beaches but I just wanna know if maybe there are more guys wearing them or maybe I’m just going to be the only one

You can always wear a thong under trunks and remove the trunks if it seems appropriate.

I often wear speedo style swimwear under trunks, deciding on what to wear once I’m at the beach. Sometimes I’ll tan on the beach towel wearing only the bikinis and then pull on the trunks when I head to the water.

It really depends on what everyone else is doing. I have no desire to have conversations with locals about my clothing choices.

I’m always the only one anyways, even wearing speedo I’m the only one at the beaches I am! So, I don’t have problem with that!

I've been going there for over 20 years...back when 5th avenue was mostly a dirt road and have seen only one thong on the main beaches.
That being said if you go a little farther north or south from the "downtown" area it gets pretty sparse people wise and you'd have no issues.
I've worn my speedo's there and didn't feel uncomfortable...and it's so laid back with a very European vibe that no one would say anything to you anyway.
I cringe more from seeing the "large" Russian women topless around Mamitas beach club !!

I was there 30 years ago, when I was young and buff.
Worn a speedo and got "cat calls" from construction workers building a new hotel.
Not the attention that I was looking for.
(best suggestion: wear the thong or speedo under a normal bathing suit and
strip down if it feels OK, otherwise safe from bad decisions).

Got it! I’ll do that, I mean, I’m wearing thong, under my shorts, but I’m gonna take my shorts off until I set up my tan station and be myself!

I don't understand how to wear a thong under one's normal swimsuit.

This is my normal swimsuit for municipal pools.

This is my normal swimsuit for hotels and beaches.

This is my thong swimsuit.

The thong would show if I tried wearing it under either of them.

Always wear a speedo there - I’d say about 10-20% of guys wear speedos there, even walking up and down the beach. If you go north or south of town you can thong - I’ve laid out in a g-string a few times, didn’t cause any issues.

Hello guys!
I went to Playa del Carmen, and I wear thong everyday and everywhere. I got some laughs and some accomplishment, but definitely I encouraged myself to wear my thong proud, I really enjoy it.
At the beginning was little awkward, but after little bit, I just get used to and everybody around me, didn’t put to much attention about it.

So, if you want to wast thong! Just do it! We lives once!!

You're going to find more European tourists over there than Americans, so you're ok there, locals don't care what you wear at the beach as long as you're respectful with them.
Over in Cabo, is a little more conservative, since there are American majority

I miss the unofficial nude beach area that was near Playa Del Carmen (Coco Beach I think was the name of it). That was a great beach to lay out nude and a thong would have been totally fine there.
