Markets' live poultry sales cruel, protesters say

"The cruelty is very obvious and severe," said Andrew Zollman, 43, organizer of LGBT Compassion's Live Markets Campaign. "

Sorry Andy is Chinese culture... you know that whole accepting and melting pot. Maybe it's the conservative outlook that much of 20% San Franciscans believe in.

"I'm tired of seeing them here. I just wish they'd give it up and go eat their fruits and vegetables," said market manager Christine Adams.
Ly also sees the protests as a cultural attack in a city where the most recent census data show 1 in 5 residents is Chinese.

In SF, animals are supposed to be treated better than people. No news to me.

San Francisco, my old home town, has IMO the BEST Chinese, Japanese, and various Asian restaurants and markets outside of the original countries where the various cuisines come from. My Japanese/American sister who lives in Manhattan and I often argue which city has the best Chinatown. Well, San Francisco has the best Chinatown and densely packed neighborhood of incredible food.

Now, as an old gay fart I have a difficult time getting worked up by someone concerned about the treatment of chickens, even if that person is gay. And I could really go for some Peking Duck right now, although I primarily eat vegetables, beans, grains, and fruit.

But then I grew up on a farm and learned early where babies come from and how chickens make it from the chicken coop to the dining table. All anyone really needs to do is teach the folks buying those live chickens how to put them to sleep (literally) and keep them calm and happy while being transported cross town on a city trolley. You force their heads under one wing and -- voila! They calm right down.

Sorry, Facequeen, I'm afraid there are more important things to ponder at the moment that someone worried about the welfare of chickens. And as you well know, it has not been a couple of slow news days.

However, if vegans bother a curmudgeon such as yourself, if you were to deal with driving in San Francisco's daily traffic I'm certain we'd soon be hearing something from you about blaming all of the city's traffic problems on Asians.

EDIT: If you're ever in need for an excellent recipe for puppy soup, just let me know.

Me, too. He's cute and irascible, much like a mutt breed terrier that even "The Dog Whisperer" would recommend be contained within a chain link fence cage with a "Warning, High Voltage!" sign hung over the door to warn innocent children to stay away. :lmao:

This thread cheered me up so much, I just jizzed on my girlfriend's face this morning.

She wasn't nearly quite so enthused. Personally, I don't see the problem in getting it in her hair and all over her face if she's going to take a shower anyways.

    he probably does, too

he cavorts and gambols with Euros and other foreigners, so horsemeat is probably part of his regular diet

(yet, he claims to be a red-blooded American  )

Nick and Face are just high-larious. What does liking Chinese food have to do with the Cultural Revolution anyways?

My favorite Chinese dish is Sum Yung Guy -- preferably on the beefy side.

:biggrin1:isnt it sad when failed candidates for office like faceking have no where else to focus their angst except here? as a successful , unopposed candidate for local office in CA, i am amused and delighted by the eve more pitiful rants by right wing extremists who have no elected office to exploit for their wacky tinfoil-hatted crusades.
