Thoughts on lpsg locking out politics section?

It would not have been locked up if members hadn't overwhelmed mods with complaints. It was more trouble than it was worth for the site.

Fine with me that it's gone. Plenty of other places on the inter web to bitch about politics. :emoji_zzz:

I feel like porn sites can try to remain apolitical but with SCOTUS dismantling what we thought were established rights and Justice Thomas in particular saying next they are going after other rulings based on presumed privacy rights, like Lawrence vs Texas, it's only a matter of time before they come after all of us on here.

Very true. There is a growing anti-porn sentiment on both the left and the right. Sites like this might not be long for this world.

If they do overturn Lawrence vs Texas, access to porn sites would be the least of our worries.

Occasionally, I would enjoy just dipping my toe in to read a few posts. But it was like putting on a fireman's full gear before walking into a blast furnace most of the time. lol. I don't miss it. I prefer this site being a refuge where none of that vitriol exists and we can have fun showing and talking about our junk instead. haha.

If The Powers That Be here really wanted opinions about what members felt about the Politics section instead of what drives the traffic, makes a profit and causes the least dissent, the section would never have been closed to begin with.

But it has and thus any continuing lament is futile and akin to:

We did get a lot of opinions and comments about keeping/nuking the Forum. And as many as were pro, we had just as many, if not more, who were anti. The final decision to nuke the Forum was NOT about anything other than this:

It's not like Mr. LPSG did not try numerous times to keep the Politics Forum open. What other Forum had it's own subset of Rules?

At some point when one is running/managing a business, one must make the decision as to best allocation/use of resources. That's just smart.

Sadly, many of those Members who felt like you that the Politics forum should be allowed to continue unfortunately were some of the biggest offenders of Mr. LPSG's rules and policy about the Forum.

At some point, one must weigh how many times one will bang one's head against the wall expecting a different outcome. That never happened.

The ability to read the political musings/rants/nonsense of a bunch of folks hiding behind a veil of anonymity is readily available on many other sites. I don't partake, and don't feel a strong need for it here.

Oh, and it doesn't impact your ability to say something just because you can't say it here, so spare me the "freedom of speech" bs. Only the govt is prohibited from infringement of speech; try spouting off on politics or religion on the factory floor and see where it gets you.

I'm almost certain my political opinions have never affected political outcomes.

My vote does. With so many elections won & lost by tiny margins every vote counts.

I enjoy writing out my thoughts and weighing them against the thought of others, but I understand why it's been locked. I'm very grateful to the mods on this site, they keep a very clean and tidy operation and truly act as pillars of balance, and minimizing their stresses sounds more worthwhile to me than my own privilege to pontificate.

Though I love this community, things do tend to get out of hand when there's a provocative thread. And right now there's more topics to provoke than ever, especially when there are views abound even I can't empathize with, and I'm usually pretty understanding.
