I have enjoyed getting to know members of LPSG by connecting with the Snapchat Megalist threads. It has been a nice way of seeing actual real people and getting to know the people of LPSG without the feeling of a “live” call with someone you don’t know. It has been overwhelmingly male, so ladies I ask you:
Do you use Snapchat?
Do you find it intriguing to get a glimpse of who is on the other end of the computer screen?
Don’t post your snap name here, you’ll likely get flooded with requests.

I only use Snapchat to communicate with family and friends. I learned my lesson years ago about giving out a social media handle to someone. He wouldn’t stop trying to contact me. It started stressing me out. I had to delete the app.

So while there are a few people I’ve known for years here, I’d rather stay covert by keeping interactions here.

I have snap and I use it for a few people I know that were on SF and maybe two from here. Sure, seeing the human on the other side is always nice, but only if I'm treated like a human. If my account gets blown up with pathetic men flooding me with dick because they need some sort of validation, I'd rather delete the app than deal with that.

I have a preference to apps that allow me to very easily block someone from communicating with me.

Not on snap. Not planning on it any time soon.

I do get a glimpse of who I talk to online. I have their words. That's who they really are. That's what I use to gain my knowledge of who they are. No need to see anyone.

Edit: obviously people fake who they are online all the time, but my point is that I don't care what the person looks like. I just want to hear what they have to say.

No I'm not on any social media, I've tried a couple of platforms in the past and snap wasn't one of them. Maybe it's partly an age thing but I just can't be doing with it all, I manage to fill my day without having the added nuisance of social media. I honestly don't get it whether it's snap fb or whatever, my phone would be pinging off every few minutes all times of day or night with messages from people I wouldn't otherwise be in touch with and even worse people messaging from halfway around the planet in different time zones hitting my inbox. I don't need that aggravation, if I want to be in touch with someone on that personal level they'd have my phone number and vise versa, these apps are just a menace as far as I'm concerned and do nothing but annoy me.
One thing I really like about this site is that my message box is open for anyone and I'm fine with that because when I log out I don't have the notifications pestering me, when I want to have a look here to see what's going on my messages are there waiting in my inbox, that suits me fine, all those new apps that keep doing the rounds just makes me think that people are constantly trying to reinvent the wheel or something. I might be a dinosaur but I know what I like and what suits me Lol, I'm one those people who still uses their landline more than their mobile and I still rather use a fax machine for sloper and knitting patterns than faf with emails and all that, peace out X

Very true! It gets tiresome trying to keep up with all the new apps and medias!

That’s a good point. Actions speak louder than words, so to speak. But in this instance, words are telling you more about someone than what you might otherwise gather from a picture. Maybe that’s a loose connection but hopefully you get what I’m saying

I get your point, but I don't care what a picture would "tell" me about the person I'm talking to because I have no interest in what they look like.

I've seen pics of a few friends here, and it's nice to be able to see them when they decide to share, and I've shared pics with a few people here after years of conversations.. But those conversations are significantly more valuable to me. I could spend all my time here not looking at a single pic and I'd be just as happy with that time.

I actually don't even post pics of myself on my IG. I'm not on snapchat, I don't Skype, or zoom.. I'm just not interested in sharing my face, and I'm not all that interested in seeing anyone's either. I totally get why other people *do* want to see who they're talking to. It just isn't important to me.

If I plan on meeting someone in person? Obviously I would absolutely want/need to know for a fact that they are who they say they are. But I don't plan on meeting anyone online. Well, there are a few people here I would love to have a get-together with (the Coven, and our crew of fellas who kick all the ass in SBA) but outside of that I'm not remotely interested in face-to-face meet-ups with anyone here. So I don't feel like I need to confirm that they are who they say they are. I'm just here to read.
