"I hate gay people," Hardaway said. "I let it be known I don't like gay people and I don't like to be around gay people. I am homophobic. I don't like it. It shouldn't be in the world or in the United States sports."

"First of all, I wouldn't want him on my team. And second of all, if he was on my team, I would, you know, really distance myself from him because, uh, I don't think that's right," Hardaway said.
"You know I don't think he should be in the locker room while we're in the locker room. I wouldn't even be a part of that. There's a lot of other people I hear who are like that and still in the closet. I don't like that."

I want to thank Tim for at least being honest. I'd rather deal with a person like that than someone who isn't honest with himself and with me. It makes interacting with people like him SO much easier.

Personally, I don't care if he hates homo sexuals at all. His life will never impact mine. Regardless, that he is in a major sports league.

Where I will draw the line is if he starts to use his position to start anti gay rallies/movements. Starts to endorse anti gay themes in public. To USE his fame in a negative way.

Someone telling us how they honestly feel, in today's day and age, is to be commended not villified. FUCK THIS PC CRAP!

Here is the crux that a lot of people get hung up on:

We are never going to get 100% of the people to all believe in the same thing. So why bother? I, certainly, will not waste my valuable time trying to convince someone that what they believe is wrong. I've got better things to do, to be quite blunt.

What needs to be done is change the environment, not the individual. If (and who knows how many there are) all the closeted male sports stars all came out, then we could start to change that environment.

Until that happens you might as well spit in the wind.

I am glad that the league took the actions that they did. Not because I'm a gay male but because they realised what a negative impact that would be to the NBA. THIS is the kind of environmental change that needs to be started. Instead of circling the wagons to protect him, the circled the wagons to protect the integrity league.

Homophobia is rife in the sport world. Nothing new about that. It ain't going to change. Period.

The fact that that the NBA is banning this dear soul from activities does not at all diminish homophobia in the sport world. It just another attempt to show sympathy towards gay men, which only perpetuates homophobia in society. The NBA says "AWWWWW, gay men are so fucked up and downtrodden. Let's do them a favor: Let's ban the few blatant homophobes and keep all the subdued ones."

Political correctness can suck my big dick and so can all the zillions of homophobes. Maybe they'll all choke to death on this big fucker.:biggrin1:
