I not saying I define it. But I do get the impression that people want to paint that "real Americans" means white and str8.
Some people most certainly want to do that.
For obvious reasons, I would have objection to it.
I like to think it means people who aren't afraid to fend for themselves. People are not interested in living off the gov't.
That is such ideological nonsense, it's laughable.
Dude, YOU live off the government. We all do, or do you think every Policeman, Fireman or any other government worker is just volunteering their time at no pay? When roads are being repaired, bridges being built, food being passed by inspections so that you don't get a botched batch of steak, you think everyone of them are doing it just for your benefit?
The problem with the left v right is the fundamental difference in how much gov't either side wants.
More nonsense.
Government is nothing more than a reflection of ourselves. The good AND the bad. We don't raise or cultivate a different species just to run government... it's made up of people like you and me. By definition of being human, we naturally want to do less and make more. If government didn't have to lift a finger to get things done, they would not do anything. That's REGARDLESS if the left or the right were running things. The difference lays within individual people that realize when it's time for talk and when it's time to roll up our sleeves and work together.
What becomes disappointing is we end up hating each other over it instead of learning from each other.
There are many opportunities to learn from one another. Sadly, ideological views continually get in the way of people's realities. That's why someone who grew up in a nice neighborhood, has a house in the suburbs, a great job and makes $100K a year will look at another person who lives in a rough neighborhood, has two full time jobs, barely makes a working class salary, can't afford healthcare and tell them that they need to "work harder". Get the picture?
