Actually this time I do and it isn't helped by one friend after another walking away or being banned. It isn't my place to be dissing anyone, I suppose I just needed a little rant at the nostalgic end of the year.

If there is any point to this thread, I used to argue that this was not a porn site. I concede.
With a soupcon of wit/humor and an occasional foray into politics. I prefer to think of it as a thinking man's porn site, Drifterwood, having never experienced what you are lamenting the loss of.

With one exception due to banning (a decision with which I am not in agreement), I personally believe there are more break-takers and holiday socializers than permanent walk-aways. But you may well be more plugged into some circles than I.
You're absolutely right about year-end nostalgia, though. This last week of the year's always been a long, hard slog for me.

Been a bit disenchanted myself, Drift...but think it's probably more down to myself. Not much going on in Politics forum, and I've kinda exhausted the place a bit, with not much left to give either. I also miss several 'break-takers' to quote Midlife (Patchos, Lemon, Nubian, especially...).

A lot of the problem is me. I'm most interested in the politics thread, but lets face it this is a sex board, and anyway there are not quite enough people regularly using the politics thread (especially the UK/Europe threads). I can't find another board with a lively politics/current affairs discussion like lpsg (suggestions welcome). I've thought of blogging, but somehow I don't think "Telegraph Blogs" or similar would take me on. Yes I know any idiot can start a blog on blogger.com (indeed I already have a work-related one through them), but it would be nice to have a blog with a degree of respectabilty (ideas welcome). Twitter is suiting me up to a point, but I'm using it mostly for marketing and broadcasting, not really for friendship or interaction. And 140 characters is a challenge!
People post on this board with an alias and value their privacy - at least I know I do. A downside is that it is impossible to trace most people who leave or who are banned. I'm getting increasingly unhappy about that.

When I logged on this morning, there were 25 people in Etc and Politics and over 1000 in the porn areas.
There are still many special and interesting people, it's just that the balance has changed overwhelmingly.
