The director said he was open to doing another one, but that he would not do it without Armie Hammer. They will not recast, so unless Armie's scandals go away we are not likely to see it happen.
The director also loved him some Armie so that could also be why we won’t see the sequel.

I stopped halfway through, I might finish once the second part is released. Too much setup not enough happening. I get the need to world-build but it wasn't enough to hold my interest especially know it wasn't the finished story.

I've read all the Dune books of Frank Herbert; they are long, slow reading, and intricate, but hooked me.
The first 'Dune' movie and its music [I doubt] will be surpassed. I did not care for the splitting of the present remake. [I've gotten tired of the long list of series that networks don't bother to finish. They really don't care enough even to make one finishing episode for resolution.]

The real tragedy of Beautiful Boy was that it was based more on the father’s memoir than the son’s memoir, Tweaked. It was much more gritty from the son point of view including him having sex with men to get drug money and other grueling and brutal experiences that Timmy would have so excellently interpreted.

The real tragedy is that film was virtually ignored by a lot of the awards shows, when I really think its some of his best work. Should have had his second Oscar nomination for that role.

Basketball Diary did that very well with DiCaprio

I agree with this heavily, especially because of the casting. Carrell was not equipped to carry the film, so focusing on the father's perspective really set it back. He doesn't give a strong performance (imo) and the movie really drags in those sections. Then feels completely disjointed whenever it shifted to Nick. I wish Tim had gotten to really live in that character and portray a more complete story.

The father may have been the professional writer, but the son’s book was better in its raw, brutal essence, which is what a story on that subject matter needs.

So basically had they used the sons memoir, Timmy would have gotten good second nomination and probably the award? I saw the movie, and I was expecting more. If you're going to do a study like that then do it!

We'll see what happens. If he's just has a sexual fantasy that's outside the norm, fine. There's no telling what his peers get up to behind closed doors NDA's The alleged rape however is another issue.

Agreed. The allegations of rape and violence are the serious stuff here, and if he's guilty, I hope he gets jail time. But everything else like that cannibalism fetish which was hyped in the media is either a lie or just some weird fantasy kink he has. People do all kind of role plays, maybe it was something like that. I remember media portraying him as a rich powerful man when the allegations surfaced, now it turns out that he wasn’t that rich. I mean the guy had to take a regular job to support his family which again he had to quit because media invaded his privacy.
