Anyone else struggle with shy bladders? For the life of me, I cannot piss at a urinal, I have no issue with taking my dick out, my not a drop comes out :( I hate being the guy that has to wait for the cubicle when there's space at the urinals..

Any tips to overcome this?

Wish I knew how to help you, dude...I've battled this for years. I'm 56 now, and although it has gotten better with age I still have it happen occasionally, no matter how badly I need to pee. On a trip I'll leave the bathroom when it happens and have to stop just down the road at another...my wife thinks I'm crazy sometimes.

Haha - i feel your pain mate. I avoid urinals like they're the plague.

Usually when i need to use one I'm at a bar/pub and have had a few drinks. That makes it much easier.

Other occasions when I'm forced to use one, I try to :

1) Find a spot on the wall and focus on that and nothing else. The pattern, the texture, the colour, whatever.

2) Try to shift my focus to something different. Sing your ABC's, plan your grocery shopping, etc.

Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, but I've yet to find something more effective...

I have a few theories why I cant pee at a urinal- I'm generally an anxious person struggle with anxiety, hoping meds might make me and my bladder relax a bit. The other thing is Ive always been super shy about my penis; in my culture its unheard of to be circumcised and think I might be the only cut guy in the country, so that shyness around my dick I believe has lead to bladder shyness. Am I mad?

Question... how can you overcome this madness? Anti-depressants? Pissing with a friend? Breathing exercises?

Im there now, not originally from the US. Definitely feel there's some sort of mental reason behind bladder shyness :(

I'm not joking with this advice. I read this somewhere in the last year or so but have never tried. It was about shy bladder and multiple guys said rubbing the flat of your palm right against you cock tip helped relax things and start the pissing. Give it a try and let me know if it works.

I've been rubbing it on my palm like that for an hour now. Haven't peed yet but I shot a load onto my wrist watch a couple times.

I do the same damn thing sometimes at a urinal if there's other guys nearby, especially if they're talking.

I can never figure out why this happens. You would think since I'm on a site where I have pics of myself in the buff, I wouldn't have a problem at a urinal.

Medically? Anxiolytics. Thats why alcohol works. It is an anxiolytic.

Lots of men have suffered with this problem for ever. It's usually described as being "pee shy".

I've had to leave concerts because I couldn't will myself into a good piss. Sports events are not fun either. A hundred guys with four beers each in their bladders waiting... for... you....... to........... pee

Used to be the same when younger. I now have little issue peeing even standing next to another guy at, say, a large event (or used to, in the pre-COVID world anyway). I forced myself to use urinals more often and I also made an effort to use the communal showers at my university gym more often, which made me feel more comfortable naked/knowing that others might see my cock. Eventually using the urinal became easier as well.

Anyone can be pee shy. If you have been holding it too long or taking meds like antihistamines it can be hard to make the muscles relax. Here is a trick I have found that works for me.

However you get your dick out, you usually still have one hand holding it or stuck in your paints next to it. Use that hand to find a sensitive place on your balls or inner thigh and rub (tickle) it. The spot will be different for different guys, but everyone has played with their junk enough to know where the hot spots are. If rubbing the head of dick works for you then go for it, but this may draw more attention than you would like.

What you are doing is causing your attention to focus on your dick area and by association your pissing mechanisms. Your mind is taken off of other distractions and you can focus on relaxing your Detrusor muscle. Check out
Detrusor muscle - Wikipedia

Or you can read about what really is going on with your body when you do piss. It is complicated and can get really confusing, Pontine micturition center - Wikipedia

I hate pissing at sports stadiums and places like that where it's a big trough or row of urinals without dividers. I don't get a shy bladder but it seems like guys are always trying to peek or stare at my junk and it makes me feel really awkward

Here is what helped me, and it sounds pretty bizarre, but it worked. I struggled most of my life with using a public restroom until I visited a Korean Spa with some good friends. The simple act of being naked and spending time in the wet areas nude with other men helped me relax and finally realize dicks come in all sizes and shapes. Porn dicks are not representative of the average man and I had a better than average endowment. It took a few visits to the Korean Spa before I finally began to relax and not give a damn anymore. It was so freeing to once be free from this struggle. Now I may still have a brief moment of anxiety if I enter a restroom that is very busy or doesn't have a privacy divider between urinals, but this rare. I zone out anyone around me and take care of business. It's sad that it took me this long to get over this anxiety, but I'm thankful I found a way (completely by accident) that helped me.
