Jockmaestro, I think jocks look hot, but they're just not that functional for actual athletic use compared to modern sports underwear. I'm always spilling out the bottom of mine when I wear one (even more often if it's a cup jock) and the material is usually scratchy and uncomfortable. Plus, the part where the straps meet the pouch always gets soaked with nasty taint sweat which makes my balls itch. Compare to UnderArmour or similar (I swear I'm not a shill for them!), which wicks away sweat, keeps everything in place, and feels totally comfortable. Nothing wrong with a little nostalgia for the boys stripping down to their jocks after gym class, but nostalgia can obscure actual progress in junk-holding technology.

I have tried boxer briefs several times but hate the way they trap heat on my legs... (I also work in a hot environment) and hate the feeling of sweat running down my ass/balls/etc... I like the fact that boxers allow more air flow/freedom of movement. Yes there is the bulge issue but would rather deal with that than crotch rot issues...

Try bikini briefs or a good thong for support. If you don't want a strap in your crack then try the jock strap. All three will yield good support. I enjoy all three. I can't stand boxers. If I wanted to free ball just go with out anything.

Boxers is not the most popular underwear in today's world.

Boxer Briefs are up there and Briefs have officially made their comeback with better materials and better construction. If you're speaking strictly on popularity Briefs have always been the most purchased underwear worldwide.

Wear whatever you want I say. I can only do boxers when going to bed. It's briefs or boxer briefs otherwise.

Go bikini or thong dude, opposite side of the under style spectrum.

NEVER. Bikinis can only be worn by slim Europeans, and thongs are just wrong on men. period. They are the clothing of female strippers.
Gee, think I feel strongly about this? don't you with the whole world had my kind of passion for issues that REALLY matter, like social justice? : )

My favourite underwear, by far, is the UnderArmour boxerjock. No bunching, no chafing, no junk sticking to the side of my leg, it keeps my boys in place without being tight or constricting, and it keeps me comfortable when I'm sweaty. Truly an underwear for all occasions.

To all the people bickering about what kind of underwear 'men' wear, the correct answer is that men wear whatever's comfortable. I wear boxers, briefs, or boxerbriefs depending on the weather, my mood, and what kind of physical activity I'm doing that day (...and what's clean). If some officious little punk tried to tell me that my choice of underwear offends his sense of masculine propriety, I'd probably wipe my sweaty briefs in his face.

Wow. I couldn't feel more differently. UA boxer jocks bunch up around my legs ( I have reasonably big, strong thighs) and their support sucks , in my opinion. They hardly do anything. I know guys are built differently, but it always amazes me how different we can be. I guess it's good there's so much variety out there.
Obviously, when I say "real men wear briefs," I'm not being all that serious. Guys can wear what they want, of course, but sometimes it's fun to really get "serious" about underwear issues!
As for wiping your sweaty briefs in a guy's face, well...

I totally disagree. I don't see how anyone can say comp shorts, for example, give the kind of ball support that a classic jockstrap does. Comp shorts PRESS down your balls or at the very best, kind of provide a little support. Very different from a Bike jock, which pouches your balls nicely.
I've never had ball-itch from the leg straps, but perhaps your case happens more than I realize.
Now, it's important to differentiate between a CUP STRAP and a standard JOCKSTRAP. No one in his right mind would wear a cup strap right next to his nuts. They slip out and can actually, ironically, be hurt by the cup itself. It's important to POUCH your nuts first and THEN wear a cup. I've worn a regular Bike jock and comp shorts with a cup pocket over them, and that's reasonably satisfactory, tho' the cup is still too far away from my balls to really be secure. In hs and college I wore a regular jockstrap and a cup strap on top of that and really felt confident my nuts were safe.
Recently, I stole a Bauer and Black steel hockey cup that was discarded in a locker room. Because the straps are placed near the cup, they actually do a good job of pulling the cup"back" so it surrounds your nuts.

Long live jockstraps and briefs!

Fascinating! Point taken -- isn't human diversity wonderful?

I do double up, btw, when wearing a cup jock. In fact, I've tried all different combinations of jock, cup, comp shorts, slider shorts, hockey shorts, and whenever a jock of any kind is introduced I always end up pinched, itchy, or with one nut hanging out the side incredibly dangerously. But my balls are much bigger and lower than average. I think I might feel differently if there were a jock with a pouch big enough for my equipment.

Alright, so I've had my dick pierced, but I'm still going to say this: why would you deliberately make your cock uncomfortable, by restricting it with any sort of underwear?

There's no law that says you have to wear anything under your trousers.

Go commando, if you ain't tried it, you don't know what you're missing.

And as for those of you who sleep with anything on - I just don't get it, I couldn't sleep.

I could only go commando in jeans. It's the only thing I would feel comfortable with after going to the bathroom. Work clothes is out of the question. Also I dont like the swinging feeling that much.

The biggest reason why I wouldnt do it though is I sweat in the nether regions...A LOT. Crotch, thighs, taint, groin, and ass. I would have a permanent wet spot. It's the reason why I switched to moisture wicking briefs and boxer briefs early this year. Based on the material they arent constricting or uncomfortable. They hug everything but also allow good movement when walking. Jockey makes great ones.

I pick briefs because they have nice support but I find boxer briefs can usually do the same. I switch off between briefs, boxers, and boxer briefs so I get some variety. Maybe you should try that

This is probably the best advice here. You should try a mix of different styles and either rotate through them as you feel like it or decide from there what works best for you.

Nobody can tell you what the best underwear for you is except you.

Yep, I do just this, with the C-in2 Bamboo (Discontinued), and Zen ranges, for that very reason.

Prefer the Army Trunk styles, though the Punt, Brief, and Jock styles are good also.

I just can't see how, even with a big dick and hefty balls, that your nuts slip out of a jockstrap pouch. I've never seen or experienced that with a Bike jock.
Wouldn't mind helping you out, buddy, adjusting your pouch so you're not vulnerable.

Thanks for the advice, however is there a more supportive type that isn't as "bulgy", living in an apartment with a few other grads I have a tendency to walk around in my boxers in the mornings. I have a feeling walking around with a bulge from my equipment isn't probably the best idea.

even with your own boxer shorts, you will have a bulge.
your best option is boxer briefs or just briefs. yeah you'll have a bulge. and if your mates notice it then thats up to them to look. and if the comment, then jst reply "why are you looking there" lol

has your room mates seen you naked? in shower or whatever?
if they have, i sure they wont mind you walking about with a bulge. if they seen it before, then they wont mind seeing it covered. (unless they are gay) lol
