Ok guys and gals, I want to download some christmas songs to put on a CD, and need suggestions. What are your favourite festive tracks?

Mine is Fairytale of New York

Any song that can include...

"You scumbag, you maggot, you cheap lousy faggot,
happy christmas you arse, I prey God it's our last!"

And still be a really lovely Christmas song has gotta be top of the pops!

The Bruce Springsteen cover of "Santa Claus is coming to town"

"....Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanta Claus is comin' to town...."

OK, perhaps not.

I confess to liking christmas music in the 4-day span between December 23 and 27.

How about Feliz Navidad?

The Pogue Mahones are about as good as it gets.

Here is a John Denver song "Please Daddy don't get drunk this Christmas" that is demented in its own way.
Amazon.com

And my personal fav is Robert Earl Keen's "Merry Christmas from the Family"

Here's a playlist that I burned and ended up having to surrender the disc to one of my clients who heard it in my car.

YES

The best Christmas song ever.

I have to say I love that song too. It sounds like it could have come right off of the Phil Spector Christmas albums my parents used to play when I was a little kid.

"My grown up Christmas wish"- Natalie Cole (So Sweet)
"Where Are You Christmas?"- Faith Hill (Wow!)
"Last Christmas"- Wham!
"Do They Know It's Christmas?"- Band Aid
"Emmanuel" - Melanie Doane (Surprisingly Powerful)
"Mary, Did You Know"- Kalan Porter ditto
"Coventry Carol"- Alison Moyet ditto
"Gabriel's Message"- Sting ditto
"Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas"- Tori Amos
"Silent Night"- Enya (you won't care that it's not in english)

"Little Drummer Boy"- Bing Crosby and David Bowie (Absolute Classic!)

If you like humour with your holidays get the "Barenaked for the Holidays" CD by The Barenaked Ladies. Choice among them "Elf's_Lament", "Green Christmas", "Christmas Pics"

"Christmas Day"- Scared Weird Little Guys
"The Hanukkah Song"- Adam Sandler
"Christmas Time"- The Darkness

Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Entire album is awesome
Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy - My favorite of the Tchaikovsky compositions for Nutcracker

Other than that and a select few traditional songs, I think Chrismtas music sucks.

"Merry X-Mas", by Slade. One of those that I really enjoy hearing.
"Driving home for Christmas", Chris Rea. Another one.

And keep your hands off "Feliz Navidad". That one makes me throw things at the radio.
Oh my gosh.... how could I forget Sir Noddy of Holder!! That is one of my absolute all time favourite Xmas songs.... along with Roy Wood and his freakishly scary white beard!!

Xtina Agui did a cover of All I Want For Christmas.

You should get that song on your CD. Or are you the Anti-Christ(mas)?

Would you put Bohemian Rhapsody on? Not a Christmasy type song I know but it used to get played every year, probably still does. I've been really drunk these past few Xmas's :biggrin1:
