When it's late at night and all the lights are off, are you okay with letting your foot or arm dangle off the bed? Or do you have to keep your arms and legs in the "safe zone" of your sheets and blankets?

Come on, you can tell me the truth...it's just us here

Heckkkkkkkkkkkk no, I'm not dangling anything over the sides. I've watched so many horror movies that most nights I'm afraid to even move :) I have to puff the covers up over my feet though so I don't get hot, but I promise there are no toes showing for the boogieman to enjoy.

The fact that you ask this question leads me to believe you stay in the "safe zone" as well.

Now when I'm actually sleeping, I sprawl out like a bed hog and all the covers are either pushed off the bed or piled on top of me... but when I wake up I have to hide again.

This is so totally me, with two exceptions: 1. If it's hot out and the room is warm, I will push a leg out and on top of the covers. 2. I otherwise never ever EVER let the covers come off me. I may (and usually, I'm told) pull them all on top of me if I start to become uncovered.

I trace it back to seeing Jurassic Park in the theater, and thereafter having nightmares galore (or perceived nightmares that were actually just wild imagination, keeping me awake at night). I had to sleep against the wall facing the window (so that the entire room was in view), and cover up square inch of my body save my face. Sounds so stupid now, but I was thoroughly convinced at the time that as soon as my eyes closed, I would be chomped to bits by a prehistoric monster returned to life through the "miracle" of science.

is not the foot out from under the covers..

is those few seconds of swinging your leg over, before ya foot touches the ground, when big scaly monster hands are mostly likely to grab you

poked out from under the covers, i am good.
over the edge of the edge/couch depends on the movie i'm watching :tongue1:
getting out of bed.... jump for it.. and hit the ground running.

open stairs.. with the serial killer/monster friendly gaps between the treads....
yeah.. rail slide.

I don't dangle anything off the bed, but on a hot Summer night I'll throw back all the blankets and just have a corner of the sheet covering my waist/hips/ass area. In Winter, it's a whole other story - I have all the blankets and sheets pulled right up to my chin, with my arms completely UNDER the covers. If it gets really cold, I'll pull the covers right over my head and hope that I don't fart. :fart:  :biggrin1:

I'm not scared of the monsters under my bed, although I do sometimes worry that one Winter's night, they'll get so damn cold that they climb in with me to keep warm.

Yup.

Clearly ML has a good handle on all monster/killer-avoidance techniques. I do what she does.

And nobody makes light saber noises like I do. Nobody. :)

When I sleep I'm all over the place. Dangling...blanket between my legs....foot not covered....blanket under my arms....over my arms.

I do remember when I was younger there was a movie the had a detached hand that crawled around, can't remember the name of it. That night I stayed exactly in the middle of the bed, covers tucked in around me and listening for that hand.

This is a freakin hilarious thread! I sound just like Willow here... Not much of a dangler, but no set pattern in how I sleep.... But what if the monster that climbs into bed with you is HOT???

Exactly the way I do it, too. My movie of trauma was the original 'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark' with Kim Darby. A really dumb 70s movie with ugly little monsters that would set traps and drag you away. *shudder*

Lol, when it's hot I HAVE to have my hips, privates, butt, covered. I've never figured out why. I could lay shirtless, but the hiney has to be covered.

I'm less worried about the monster under my bed since my dog lays on her bed right on the floor and I know she would protect me as I climb out of bed.

Hmmm... Wax Works II? The Beast with Five Fingers? The Crawling Hand?? Re-Animator?? Evil Dead??? (can't remember which one.) That's all I can think of, oh and Adams Family movies:redface:

All ya'll have imaginary monsters under your bed? Seriously? I have a real ghost in my house...no way I'm letting IT touch my foot!

Yeah yeah, ya'll laugh away at my ghost...but I've had big strong men cower like little boys when faced with my house at 3am in the dark of night...

Far be it from me NOT to believe you!

The reason I posted this thread is that I have bad back and there is one recommended stretching position that gives relief. I lay on my side and bring one leg high over the other and let it DANGLE over the edge of the bed. It opens the part of my back where the nerve is pinched, but my foot is dangling over the bed!

So I am doing this after having many long discussions with my inner child about the lack of monsters under the bed, when the cat I thought I had locked out of my room, grabbed my foot with all paws and teeth!

So once I turned away from the bright light at the end of the tunnel and applied first aid, I posted this thread.

A running jump...two foot clearance minimum from the bed.
