Well after several months of battling various colds/viruses/family commitments/too much work I finally made an appointment to get it done.

One benefit of taking this long to book an appointment was that it gave me plenty of time to research the best place to go to have it done. Which as it turns out wasn't very hard at all since of the 5 members of the Association of Professional Piercers in Canada one was located 2 towns over in Nanaimo, BC.

I can't say enough good things about Transformations. From start to finish the experience was amazing. The gentleman who did the piercing, Darren, is one of the owners and was awesome. Can't really describe it better than that. So if you're ever in Nanaimo, BC I'd definitely recommend this particular shop.

Anyway, on to the gory details! I knew well before I showed up exactly what I wanted (since it's been about 5 months since I originally posted this thread), and made sure before-hand that it could be done since I didn't want to spend an hour and 45 on the road only to have to turn around and go back empty-handed(cocked?)

I knew I wanted a circular barbell in titanium at 8 gauge, but didn't know how big the diameter would have to be. So we ended up with a 3/4" 8 gauge titanium circular barbell and in my opinion it looks fantastic. Once I clean the blood off I'll snap some nicer pics of it, but in the meantime I've attached the initial shot. (blue rubber chicken teehee)

To minimize bleeding he pierced me with a 10 gauge needle and popped the 8 gauge jewelry in and aside from just a little blood leaking around the edges initially and a teensy tiny bit of blood in the wrapping on the drive home everything looks pretty solid. Of course that will probably change on first erection, but I'll cross that bridge once I get to it.

Overall very little pain involved. A tiny pinch when the needle went in, a sharp pinch when the jewelry went in, then nothing. I anticipated it would throb for a while like most punctures seem to, but I literally couldn't even tell it was there on the way home.

I was definitely a little nervous going in, but not about getting poked. I have a weird little heart condition where I develop an irregular heartbeat whenever my vagus nerve gets irritated. From what I understand it sits right over the diaphragm so if I get sick and vomit then that will set it off, or if I get nervous enough to get light headed that also will set it off. But luckily I made it through without setting it off, so that too says something about the skill of the piercer! ;)

TL;DR version: Finally got my PA, super stoked and had an all-around amazing experience. More pictures to come once I clean up a bit!

About 10 hours in and still next to nothing for bleeding. A bit of spotting when I sat down too fast and clipped it, but fingers crossed that my luck continues. Attached is two shots I just took with my terrible iPod camera. :biggrin1:
