You can see racism everywhere. It has a biological pattern in our brain to want to be around people who think and look the way we do.

Tell me of this biological pattern that humans have that makes them want to be around people who look the way that we do... I've never heard of it.

But i skate with a lot of older black people...

I am dumbfounded as to an activity in which white people skate with older black people... you have to fill me in on what the hell you are actually talking about. lol.

I live in a rural town now and while it has very few black people, the "ones" we see are intermingling with the white kids.

Hmmm... that's a rather poor choice of words.

I think the current generation of people are being taught by their parents or the local public school system to accept everyone.

Yes, but what are their parents teaching them? And worse yet, what are their friend's parents teaching their friends?

One of our guys lost his boy last year to being shot innocently in a drive by and we have all taken seriously to helping the city, helping the kids, black or white.

I live within Klan territory and can tell you that most rifle, hunting and sportsman clubs are mere fronts for the Klan.

A lot of historical and restoration societies are actually Klan meetings

Sadly, I am gonna blow yer minds and tell you that most Southern EMS rescue squads are just KKK fronts.

A lot of horse riding clubs are just KKK fronts... in fact, A LARGE PORTION OF THE "CLUBS" IN THE SOUTH EAST ARE NOTHING MORE THAN THE "NEW" KKK.

White supremacy is alive and well in the U.S.A.

They are fucking everywhere in the rural South... they've been chased out of every large city that they have ever been located in, but are protected among the backroads and rows of corn. They blend in with the normal rural population. Most everyone down here has a relative that was or still is in the Klan and even the good Southern people have soft spots in their hearts for the KKK.

They make up the majority of the local Sheriff's departments... many of the deputies are Klan members. They have been purged out of most of the city police departments and have no real central power there. The North Carolina Highway patrol is pretty much free from the Klan as well.

What is funny is that the rescue squads are all KKK but bust their asses to save black folk whenever they need help.

They can't help it even with their racist conditioning, they are still human after all.

Most of today's KKK members will argue up and down with you that they are not racist... and by their great grandparent's standards, they are right.

It's not so much "white power" with them as it is "Southern power". Many Southern people are just nostalgic for the past and are essentially anarchists who hate all forms of authority and detest high knowledge.

They also resent starting a war and getting beat down as a result... resulting in HUGE chips on their shoulder towards outsiders (especially Yankees that could be descended from Union soldiers).

Is Oklahoma chock full of Klan members? You had better believe it, it is one of the most racist states in the country.

They are supposedly behind everything on the planet but no one sees them or hears about them in the area? Just the paranoid people. My goodness, my my.

My favorite point is that they are so racist, but bust their ass to help black people? You think maybe because people are tired of everything they do being misinterpreted as racism? Kind of like how you took many things i said the wrong way because i didn't choose the right words to say it.

You talk about an invisible majority....no one sees them, no one talks about them, they help black people....but they are the "new" KKK. mmmmmkay.

I can't even respond that is so ridiculous. All of the horse breeding, horse shows, horse clients i deal with regularly...they must have a very large secret they just happen to keep it from everyone and some guy in North Carolina knows all about it.

You have this notion which seeps into almost every post that you write where you think you have ALL the answers, and anybody who disagrees with you is dumb. You don't actually have to say it, but you've said similar things in the past, ie saying that every right winger is a fascist or some sauch stuff. You need to cool it down and have a respectful conversation with folks.

Soon, you'll be swimming in Klan pals and neo-white Nazi groups. But you'll have to go outside of the NRA meetings to hook up with them. Openly hooking up with fringe groups at regular meetings (except for annual and semi annual regional conventions) is frowned upon.

And for a real eye-opener, go to one of the gun shows held at a convention hall in your area. There, along with the NRA booth you'll come across folks with booths for things like True Patriots for a New America. The TPNA people are quite frightening, especially if you're not inclined to espouse insurrection and sedition. You really have to be a bit more on top of things and venture into territory you would normally never consider treading. :smile:

Yeah i remember hearing about her. She also made a huge scuffle here in Oklahoma for saying that too. I live in a more rural area these days, the rural areas are predominantly democrat farmers. So she is disliked by a lot of Oklahomans.

I can't imagine that went over too well in Tulsa either, Tulsa is very gay friendly and has a good sized population of those who would like to see her in a dark alley alone one night for her opinions.

I do enjoy the gun shows, my dad often sat up a booth to sell knives there when i was a child. But i never went over to the NRA booth and my dad, as much as he loves his guns, never has mentioned the NRA to me either. So maybe we are the rarity there. Who knows.

Would be nice to see certain people here emulate that behavior. They are not in active in every neck of the woods. Your family and friends are most definitely not the kind of people that the Klan would associate with. Jesus Christ! I didn't say that every horse enthusiast that you meet are in the KKK! lol! Shit, There are African American riding groups here in the Carolinas. Black folk ride their horses up and down my road sometimes in the Summer and Fall. There are a lot of amazing people in the horse riding community, don't get me wrong. Not even by a longshot are the majority of horse enthusiasts racist.

Oklahoma has quite a history with "fringe" groups. Of course, we all know about McVeigh, but the KKK's arrival in state in '21 was just after the Tulsa Race Riots, still the biggest in US history. It was truly ugly. Officially 39 people were killed, 10 white. Unofficial estimates are that 300 blacks died at the hands of local "militia men." In '97, 75 years after, a commission was put in place to "develop an historical account." It took 4 years and they offered 300 scholarships for descendants of Greenwood (where the riots took place.) To this day no reparations have been made to the 5 remaining survivors. If I were an Oklahoman, I would be very wary of militia groups, especially if I were a person of color.

I like VB's idea of leaving them to their own economic devices. It would interesting to see how they fare when the largess of the Federal funds have been cut off. If they're pissed now, I'd hate to see what they look like then.

Duc, have you ever been to Greenwood? It's pretty heavily crime ridden but the city has worked very hard to make it look nicer than almost any other part of town. They get a lot of grants for new architecture and recently had to shut down a brand new grocery store because of the crime, it is sad. When you drive through Greenwood, you can see how hard the city has been working to make it a nicer place to live.

A lot of wealthy black people prefer to live in Greenwood than anywhere else in order to maintain the population in that area to be mostly black. It's connected to downtown Tulsa, so if you ever get the chance to check it out- you should.

I think the city council is more concerned about major current issues that affect the city than giving reparations to 5 living people from the race riots decades ago. It doesn't make sense why they wouldnt just throw some money at them and not look like compete assholes. But there are much bigger fish to fry on the docket of important things going on in Tulsa in 2010.

There is a lot to remember about those riots, and thanks to those in Greenwood, they don't let anyone forget about it. It's pretty historical and there are a ton of community organizing and advocation going on there. It's one of the least neglected parts of Tulsa, and i believe that is more because they were trying to make good out of a horrible situation.

Black people don't run around scared, i grew up in the black part of Tulsa, they don't have to. Cops arent pulling them over and beating the shit out of them on the side of the road. It's not cool to do that, its not cool for whatever militia is being described to do it. I'm not saying those horrid people wouldnt be capable of violence towards blacks, but they sure as hell arent doing it in public. They would get their asses kicked by whites and blacks alike. It's just a big no-no socially- yes even in Oklahoma. Public Oklahoma. If these people would be scared to act this way in public- its because they are in a minority by far and don't want all sorts of violence portrayed on them for being violent racists.

And Tripod, i didnt even think you'd assume skateboarding until after i youtubed skating and found nothing but Skateboard shit. And you might be right, i'd be a huge turn off to people who hate blacks. I'd be all in their face about it. I hate it when people paint races with a broad brush.

A secretive minority must remain secretive because they are socially unacceptable to the people of Oklahoma. Oklahoma isnt purebred the way it used to be. We have a lot of transplants here because our cost of living is really low and industrial companies come here to set up shop because of that. I come across someone almost everyday from another state far away. It's just not a bunch of Yosemite Sam's running around with shotguns, even my small town is pretty much democratic, with Prius drivers, recycling bins, throw in a Walmart on every corner and its no different than many other large cities.
