I feel most of the reviews have been along the lines of “Tom was great, unfortunately...the rest of the movie”
Decided to read the reviews after this comment and that was not the case. They credit him for branching out but it was clear his performance fell flat.

Sometimes I wish Tom didn't get the part of Spiderman. It's nice that he has a bigger career now, but I'm not really his fan so, but really, Tom getting on Disney's hand is really making it impossible for him to go nude on movies :/
Tom really should have been on british tv and movies, getting his ass on screen or joining theater and showing everything

It does seem his management are just a bit too eager to try and show he has range beyond Marvel films, and they keep grabbing at the wrong projects to do this. I'm also not totally convinced he actually does have the range to pull it off.

Also, and I say this as a Brit - they really need to stop casting British actors to play Americans.

As one of the reviews says, between this and "The Devil All the Time," Holland needs to stay away from contemporary American fiction adaptations. Hell his accent is one of the big reasons of his appeal along with that personality and body, same with Chris Hemsworth.

I get it - he's a 24 year old who, because of Peter Parker people still think of him as a overly nice teenager, he's doing movies in which he plays an actual adult who gets to act out and take drugs and screw around. We get it mate, you can and do get your dick wet.

He just needs to choose more carefully. It's not a uncommon problem - Hemsworth, Jackman, Cavill all took a long time to find films outside their superhero roles that worked and they still don't a bunch of the time. He'll get there, it just takes time is all.

The sad thing is everyone with eyes can see Chaos Walking is gonna flop, so thats gonna look like strike 2 even thought it was filmed forever ago lol

A lot will depend upon "Uncharted" which should hopefully prove he can do stuff beyond Spidey. Trouble is that film has been kicking around for a decade, is not in the best hands creatively, and god damn Mark Wahlberg as Sully is eye-wateringly TERRIBLE casting.

I am surprised that the uncharted film is not including Nathan’s wife Elena but I know the movie focuses on the younger version of Nate drake before he came the infamous treasure hunter.

Film is in continuity and a prequel to the games by a good few years, he met Elena a little before the start of the first game so it doesn't make a lot of sense for her to be there yet.
