I'm trying to find a retailer in the US that carries the Tom of Finland cologne. Can ayone help out?
    Also, I've never smelled it.
If you have, please give me your opinions about it.

Unless it smells like armpits and ball sweat, I don't think it would be true to the Tom of Finland image.

Throw in stale poppers and just a hint of leather and you've got it :biggrin1:

Hmm . . . eau de sweat of motorcycle seat leather, week-old armpit, and just a hint of a sailor- on-leave's butt crack with back notes of dirty socks or stale poppers? Those two last fragrances are soooooo close.

Sorry, forgot the link to the review of it. I'm not sure it's still in production as the only retailer they mention who has it is Harvey Nichols but when I go to the Harvey Nichols website, they say they don't have it. Perhaps it flopped? L'etat orange still has it on their website but they're French so who knows if they even bother updating their site. They don't list any retailers who carry it (duh).

From the website Jason links above:

    Um: no thanks.

If you really want to smell like a Tom of Finland guy, just dispense with deodorant for a week in a warm climate (as MidLifeBear suggests). That should do it.

I searched that site but found no link to it at all. They don't even mention it or other fragrances. It's very confusing.

Yeah, this is entirely not the market. It's like marketing leather and fur trench coats to PETA. And marketing it to straight guys? That's quite the reach. I don't think Don Draper could pull that off even if I'm curious about what he'd look like in harness and chaps.

Jason you are right. The site did not offer it after a search. So then wear Eau de Hermes and go work out at the gym and JO and don't take a bath for a day and I'm sure the fragrance outcome will be somewhat the same.

Better yet, just buy a $45 (more or less) e75ml spray bottle of l'eau D'Issey Pour Homme. It's light with lots of citrus and contains no civit butt as an anchor, so as your own body odor changes during the day it complements your natural odor, yet you still smell civilized at 10:00 PM instead of a stale long shore man starting the graveyard shift.

It's a great eau de toilette by Issey Miyake if you happen to live in hot, humid climates such as New York in August or Buenos Aires (almost any time). Plus, I like the way Argentines pronounce it as "Ishee Meeshakee." Japanese is definitely not one of their fortes. But they sure know how to smell good 24/7.

I don't know. I have an unopened can (yes it comes in a can) of Jean Paul Gaultier eau de toilette from the 1980s. I'm not sure what it would smell like at this point and not sure I want to find out.

Sorry, Jason, but that's just too unsettling! You may discover, after a bit of googling, that you have inadvertently become an EPA Super Fund Site! Before your situation becomes more public, I'd at least try to pass that can off to someone else via Ebay.

    Just a thought.

It is a bit creepy isn't it? My grandmother never threw anything away. She even has an ancient bottle of paregoric in the medicine cabinet and spices in tins that are over 100 years old. I once went looking for arrowroot and dug-up a bottle that came with a cork stopper and a hand-written label on it. It was a hand-me-down bottle of arrowroot from HER grandmother! The biscuits were still good though. At least she didn't have any arsenic wafers.
