Just in case the audience hasn't realized it, the picture in the OP is an obvious photoshop job...and not even a very good one. Notice the flesh tone on the top half of her face doesn't match the bottom? A model's head has been 'shopped onto an emaciated body, and then a half-assed attempt was made to give her cheeks a sunken look.

As an artistic statement, however, I like the juxtaposition.

the body was taken from clinical study photos of a woman with anorexia.

the face is from a model, probably some random advert in a magazine.

Rommette, most of those photos are parody photoshopped images where people have taken normal skinny models and turned them into concentration camp looking people as a joke. I will find the original site and original photos of these models for you.

I suspect that that shot is photoshpeed as well. The head and face and hair look healthy...don't match the body at all.

Their bodies aren't even real; they've been digitally altered to look that shocking. I've seen some of the originals before. The models are thin, but not deathly thin.

I have noticed that "too thin is in", but I'm not a celebrity so I don't need to enter that competition.
