Hi all,

Essentially my subject title. My foreskin is just a little too long and when hard it still fully covers my dick and it is slightly uncomfortable when being retracted.

I would not consider myself having phimosis but I always knew I had a slightly tight foreskin since I was a pre-teen with a long overhang. So since I hit puberty, I would do stretching exercises and even using a steroid cream to loosen the skin. (I had the steroid cream for eczema and I found out that it's the exact same cream people would use to stretch the skin so I used it a lot).

Once I reached adulthood I basically stopped stretching and accepted it for what it is. However, my foreskin is still too long and in my opinion slightly unsightly and the tightness has more or less stayed the same as a kid.

I don't really want a full circumcision (although I do think it's aesthetically pleasing) but I want a dick where the foreskin naturally moves back without tightness once I get hard. I hate the fact that I have to consciously move it back and have it be uncomfortable for a couple minutes until my dick decides to accept it and I have no more discomfort.

Would you recommend a partial cut? I read that it may be the worst of both worlds and I'm pretty against doing a full cut. The only full cut I would maybe consider is a very loose and low one with frenulum and a lot of the inner foreskin intact. Another reason I would even consider that cut is because I hate the foreskin smells. It's crazy how I can shower and make sure everything is clean, then 30 minutes after a shower, the foreskin can pick up a smell. I also realize doing a partial cut wouldn't alleviate the smells so I digress.

Sex right now is great for me and I don't experience what people with true phimosis experience. I just hate that every time I go to have sex or jerk off, I always wince a little bit knowing that I will experience slight discomfort when the foreskin is retracted.

I've done just way too much research on this ever since I was a teenager and I keep going back and forth on getting circumcised for 20 years now.

Lastly, I live in the Boston area and if anyone can recommend a urologist that I can do a consultation with, that would be great!

Thanks!

I personally have no idea what's like living with a foreskin because I was circumcised when I was just a baby, and yet - as someone who's body was modified down there I would just tell you to NOT CHANGE A THING ABOUT IT. If it doesn't cause you a medical issue or an aesthetic matter you are not happy about - don't change it. Trust me, it's best to have it like this rather than regret on losing something in a process that can't really be reversed.

I would either leave it as is and stop worrying that much about it as it sounds like you have a fully functional and healthy penis, or, of you insist, get a full/complete circumcision. Partial cuts are indeed the worst of both worlds as you will still have glans coverage (plus the associated smell and moisture) and you risk getting adhesions as it heals (my surgeon said he would rather err on the tight than the loose side as it will heal better with the incision line well behind the glans and the head exposed).

Talk with a urologist, find one that offers you multiple options. There are options.
They can remove a circle of skin from the shaft that when healed = shorter foreskin length.
They can make a slice to the 'rubber band' in the end of the foreskin, resulting in a looser foreskin/easier retraction.
They can cut the frenum which changes how your foreskin moves/retracts.
and so on...

Really understand how/when/where your discomfort occurs, then see a, or several, urologist(s) until you find someone who is looking to make you comfortable while doing the least damage to your natural body. When you are done you'll wonder why you waited to make life so much more pleasant.

Why go partial and not go all the way?

You could have a dorsal slit (superincision). Then you won't have any tissue cut away from the penis but the foreskin will be less tight. I looked at your pics and I must say that your penis looks perfectly normal, nothing strange about it.

If you're getting a full adult circumcision it is most likely that it won't be that tight.
Most doctors prefer the European style, which means that the shaft skin stays intact.
I would definitely not recommend a partial circumcision.

The length of your foreskin is normal. There is nothing wrong with it. If you still think so, then I would have the sleeve resection as you won't lose the nerves in the foreskin tip. In fact, nothing would be lost but the length of the foreskin. Men with shorter foreskins would love to have your foreskin. Be happy

Coming from an area of the world where most men are natural: your penis looks completely normal to me, and I think your insecurities stem, for the most part, from misconceptions about how natural penises and prepuces look, and function. (The ‘overhang’ you mention is completely normal, for instance)
First of all the tightness you describe: not trying to sound facetious but I genuine think you don’t ‘play’ with it, enough. Not referring to masturbation - although that’s a fantastic(cally, ) healthy pastime - but for instance - when you urinate, do you fully retract your prepuce? That’s something you’re supposed to do to prevent moisture trapping underneath. Pulling it back, even flaccid, will ‘train’ the prepuce.
You also mention a scent: are you aware that you are NOT supposed to wash your glans (‘penis head’) with soap, but just water (unless it’s dirty because you’ve had unprotected sex)? Washing your penis with soap will cause it to smell (my experience with circumcised penises is fortunately limited, but those that didn’t go commando, also smelled). After sex or masturbation, same deal: a little water - or in a bind, even urine (!) - to remove remnants of semen will prevent a lingering smell

But as others said: learn to appreciate and enjoy your penis, and please don’t surgically mess with it

I had exactly the same issues as you describe, not a full on medical condition but not quite right either. After 20 years of research and deliberation I went for a full circumcision and have been very happy with the result. Almost 8 years later I would not want to go back. Feel free to PM me if you want an unbiased answer to anything.

In addition to what I wrote, I would like to warn you to pay particular attention to whose advice you heed. It has come to my attention that there are several members with a rather extreme form of acucullophilia - more acucullomania (‘circumcision fetish’) - who do nothing but post an endless stream of posts on circumcision, and how great it would supposedly be (medically, circumcisions are associated with long-term comorbidities and other negative consequences)
I can only urge you to inform yourself about healthy, natural, intact penises

Go to a urologist and see your options and get it checked out. Make sure to figure out where the discomfort is. If you really want to get your foreskin shortened, then do it after informing yourself. Or do something to loosen it if your main concern is tightness.
