The Wizard of Oz - Not because I'm gay but because it's FUCKING AWESOME!!!

Grease 2 - You read it right. The sequel to Grease. Why? Cause it's so bad it's FUCKING AWESOME!!!

B.A.P.S. - This movie shows Halle Berry actually has comedy chops.

Steel Magnolias - Okay, maybe this one is because I'm gay. Still, FUCKING AWESOME!!!

UHF - Doesn't matter what your sexual orientation, this movie is - you guessed it - FUCKING AWESOME!!!

Runners Up: Star Trek (the reboot), Star Wars (Episodes 4, 5 and 6), and Tim Burton's Batman.

    Classic Film Enthusiast here...

Gone With The Wind - it's a masterpiece, plain and simple

All About Eve - witty, sharp, brilliant, and Bette Davis

Casablanca - classic wartime drama, great stars

The Women - dated but fun bitchfest with great stars and witty dialogue

A Star is Born (1954) - Judy Garland. Should have won the Oscar

I've never seen the movie, but I've got the soundtrack. Awesome album (as is the soundtrack to Buio Omega, done by the same band).

Mysterious Skin(this movie is so f'd up though)
    Boys Don't Cry(I did)

and a long list of movies that could be put in as number 5. My list changes day to day.
The most recent movie I liked was Unthinkable(really intriguing) and From Paris with Love.

Hmmm....lemme think of the first 5 that come to mind for such a list and in no order:

    Sling Blade
    Hoosiers
    Goodfellas
    The Godfather
    Dead Poet's Society

    next batch:
    Short Cuts
    Silence of the Lambs
    Into the Wild
    The Deer Hunter
Lonesome Dove (miniseries or tv packaged film series or whatever it was)

I'd prolly rotate some others in, especially some war and/or Chinese and/or Westerns in there...and I need some comedy in there....

5 a bit more obscure but worthwhile ones that come to mind

    Clerks
    Jou Dou
    Farewell my Concubine
    The Straight Story
    Tender Mercies

Not sure about top 5, but my favourite movie is Silence of the Lambs. By far.

    The rest could be:
    * Sen to Chihiro (Spirited Away is the US name, I think)
    * Blair Witch Project.
    * Esperando la Carroza (argentinian black comedy)

Then, I love the work of directors like Kubrik (fav: The Shinning), Tarantino (fav: Pulp Fiction), and Burton (confused here, Big Fish is a great movie, but the Burton always shines with Johnny Depp)
