From childhood? Aliens is 18 certificate. I was in my mid-teens when I watched The Exorcist, I didn't consider myself to be a child by then.

Films I watched as a child that I can still enjoy today:

1 A Hard Day's Night - All The Beatles films really.

2 Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid

3 The Innocents - still one of the creepiest films ever made. It's the atmosphere in the remote Victorian mansion rather than being confronted by some creature like Alien. I was much too young to watch it but it was on tv when my parents were out and my sister was in charge.

4 The Italian Job

5 Le Mans

Near Dark - the standard by which all vampires are measured.

Return of the Living Dead - Comedy. Horror. Zombies. USA late night.

Aliens - Vasquez was my first crush.

Cheech and Chong Movies - I watched them with my Dad. Didn't get most of the jokes until I was older.

NightBreed - still a favorite movie to this day. Right up there with Hellraiser.

I was such a Blockbuster Baby. My Dad would take us to the local video rental and grab a stack of horror movies every weekend. Staying up late, on our huge ass burgundy couch, and watching b-movies were awesome times.

Yes, we were always taken to all the Disney films, The Jungle Book, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Bambi, Pinocchio, Lady And The Tramp. If I had kids they would probably all get watched again.

Although most of my favorite movies are 80's films, but since you specified "childhood" I'll have to narrow down ones I first saw in the 70's, which while not all being necessarily my favorites; do have significance for one reason or the other.

1. "Animal House" - The first R-rated movie with lots of boobies that I ever saw (by sneaking in with older kids). Of course when my parents found out they went through the roof.

2. "Fantastic Voyage" - While it was already a decade old by the time I saw it on TV, I had just read the novel and found it captivating. While with today's CGI, the effects are super dated, but back then it was the greatest thing.

3. Any Irwin Allen disaster flick ("Towering Inferno", "Earthquake", etc.). Made for great Sunday afternoon movie viewing.

4. The original Star Wars. Saw it the first time in the theater (back when nobody knew how much of a phenomenon it was to become) with my parents and although I had always preferred the more cerebral Star Trek as my sci-fi choice, I was still blown away enough to become a lifelong fan of the series (with the exception of the terrible sequel trilogy) and Episodes V and VI formed a great portion of my younger years as well.

5. Most of the monster/horror flicks that came on during the weekend "creature double features" or late night. Too many to mention but usually the ones that are laughably cheesy today when viewed through the lens of adulthood, were some of the best ("The Incredible 2-Headed Transplant", "The Brain That Wouldn't Die", etc.). Back then, I could watch them again and again.
