Here's a question for everyone. I had sex with a guy I met online about 5 weeks ago. He was a large guy and wore a large condom. I bottomed and he came inside of me (I could feel his cock pulsing). I was on my belly at the time and he just laid on top of me instead of immediately pulling out. When he did I rolled over to wank and saw him get up and walk to the bathroom and I heard the toilet flush. I usually like seeing the full condom but didn't this time. I had no feeling that there was a breakage - I guess he would have said something but he said nothing - plus I didn't have any leakage or feel any cum (just lots of lube). I went to the toilet and sort of pushed but nothing came out.

Anyway, 5 weeks later, I'm feeling run down, flu-like symptoms, yucky etc. Coincidental?

Probably. Go get tested and ask for the rapid test. Did he tease your hole w/o a condom first before inserting it w/ the condom? Does he pre-cum?

almost certainly coincidental? I think so too but it's got me a bit freaked. These cold symptoms are fairly common with me. I get a sinus infection, it moved into my chest then I cough and sneeze and cough out green crap for a week or so then it goes away. But no fever usually.

Anyway, no he didn't tease my hole but there were mutual bjs and kissing and rimming.

I just dropped him an email asking about the condom and his health.

He almost certainly won't tell you the truth. Just go get tested, if only for your own peace of mind, Sounds like these are common symptoms with you, so I wouldn't worry dude.

TC's got it just right, Johnny. There's nothing I'd add except to remark that it'd be very odd for you to have not been aware of any leakage, I think. You'd have felt it or there'd have been some seepage I'd think. And the toilet time seems to have confirmed it.

But testing never hurts, if only to reassure you and your anxious nerves.

Did you kiss, make out, exchange saliva? If so, you could have what we in the Bear world call " bear flu". That is where one gets exposed to new , non lethal, organisms that the body does not yet have immunity too. Sure, get tested, but I would think it is more a case of exposure to something he was carrying that you haven't been exposed to before.

You're right. I wrote to him but of course he doesn't remember anything about the condom. I mean, I'd remember if I saw a broken condom!

I think you're all right. It's probably very coincidental but I'll go to the Dr anyway.

Thanks for the confidence!

Thanks for all the comments. This happened 4.5 days ago so I guess I've missed the period for PEP. The health center at my university is closed over the weekend during the summer, so this morning would have been the first time I could get in :/. I guess I'm less concerned now that I know the risk was very, very low.

On another note, the HIV rapid testing program that I normally go to every 5-6 weeks is run through the local health department. They use 10 minute rapid tests from finger pricks and say that they are accurate 30 days post exposure. There's a huge difference between 30 days and the 13 weeks that is referenced in this thread...

There are lots of theories about the "window period". It used to be said that you had to test and then re-test in 6 months. Most state Health Departments have lowered that to 3 months. I worked as an HIV counselor in San Francisco, so we had pretty accurate information (still theoretical) and about a year ago when I quit we were telling people to test right away and then re-test in 6 weeks. If you are negative after 6 weeks, you are MOST LIKELY okay.

Tops do get HIV, so don't do that behavior again
