A tattoo is an extremely personal choice, it shouldn’t depend on other people’s opinions (including mine). They’re 1000% welcome to opine on whether they’ll get one on their body but deciding that you should or shouldn’t have one on yours or where you get it is not their decision to make.
Anyone who bitches about yours can be ignored from that point on. They have no respect for you, so return the favour.
My recommendation is to seek out the very best tattoo artist you can find and if it’s pricey, save up for it. Don’t go cheap or with a mediocre artist. Avoid “flash” designs - countless others have got that too, it’s not special.
Talk to your chosen artist and see what he or she might be able to create for you. The good tattoo artists ARE artists, tattoo is simply the medium they’re using. Discuss what you want the tattoo to put across, what theme or style you’d like to see and then let your artist be an artist. You should have already checked out their portfolio and seen if their style suits what you’d like to get.
Make an appointment for a bit later to come in and see what they’ve come up with, figure out if there are any tweaks you’d want to make, find out how long it will take to execute and approximate total costs. Then book a date to come get inked.
So ignore the “tramp stamp” label. That, in my experience, is primarily slapped on Yet Another Tribal Flash design that was very popular with younger females. Or it was when I was in the body art biz.
Get a great custom design by an excellent artist and you’ll never regret it.
And fuck those who think it’s automatically crappy or trashy merely because of its placement. Their opinion is irrelevant; it’s YOUR body, after all.
