My wife is a big fan of the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant.

She just informed me that there will be several transsexuals in the pageant this year. She's not happy about it but she's going to watch it because she's always loved the pageant.

Is this fair?

E.g. let's say I'm the 20th best MALE tennis player in the world. If I become a transsexual would it be fair to let me play as a woman?

I hate beauty pageants. I will not watch them.

It's completely fine by me if transsexual women want to compete.

I don't care enough about sports At All to give a single fuck about whether or not it's fair. It literally doesn't matter at all to me, because sports are stupid imo anyway. People take it way too seriously.

OP is the same person who posted the below thread, as a heads up for folks. Along with other charming shit.

A handmaid's tale

I remember who this dude is. He tries to provoke and ends up disappearing after the first page of the thread.

I figured it was worthy of a reply anyway. I really do fucking hate beauty pageants.

Me, too. One of the most difficult things I had to do was support my sister when she entered a pageant. Oi, the horror of it all!

That's an odd analogy. When it comes to sports, it's a clearly legitimate question. Typical male testosterone levels influence a certain type of bodily development that is different from that which results from typical female levels of testosterone (and estrogen). There are, as such, arguably significant differences in performance capacity when it comes to sports.

What is the parallel with beauty pageants? Physical performance certainly doesn't feature as prominently. The quality that is judged is primarily the aesthetic of the body. Are you really implying that, with respect to a judgment of female beauty, someone who grew up biologically male would naturally have a leg up on someone who was born female? If so, why do you believe that?

Female women in beauty pageants are usually not permitted most cosmetic surgery. This rule does not apply to their competitors who are male women.

Which pageant? The Miss America and Miss Universe competitions do not have restrictions against plastic surgery.

My mistake. They used to, as did the state level pageants to get that far. I haven't watched a pageant in my entire adulthood. I stopped paying attention in the 90's.

Transwomen would actually be at a disadvantage in a conventional beauty pageant. Even with feminization surgeries, she will have to work twice as hard to achieve the Western beauty ideal which is highly feminine. Unless the transwomen was lucky enough to be put on hormone blockers before puberty she's trying to erase years of male development from her body and face

I don't believe the pageants restrict cosmetic surgery, cuz there are heaps of boob jobs on that stage, there is no reason to exclude a transwomen from competition.

I should have guessed, that beauty runs in your family. :)

I just don't see the point in the contests. I can see how they sort of served a useful purpose back in the 70s and 80s when soft porn was much harder to find, but now it's like...why?

Even back then, the pageants weren’t meant for mastubatory purposes. “Geez, porn isn’t widely available - let’s put pretty girls onstage so dudes can jerk off!” That’s like saying the bra section of the Sears catalogue had a larger selection so men could whack off.

Pageants (can’t believe I’m defending them) were one of the few ways women could earn scholarships and funds. Women in the 50-70s frequently had few options but to trade in on looks. Going to college was often referred to as earning your Mrs degree.

True, why have them now. I don’t know. They continue to offer women the opportunity to earn scholarships and the ability to speak out around the world. Pageants are attempting to de-sexulize the content.

With all that being said, I hate them.
