Transgender And Gender-neutral

Hey guys!
I've been reading about two recent topics that got my attention.

1. Cyberpunk 2077 is apparently being transphobic and sexualising transgender women on their campings in the game.
2. Mr. Potato (from ToyStory) is going gender-neutral.

Any thoughts??

I find this whole Mr. Potato situation a little bit silly. I mean I get the concept that the toy was originally made 'changeable', you could take off his moustache and stick on some feminine parts, but why would you bother changing its history... It's not even a human, it's a bloody toy :D and as far as I know toys don't have genders.

It's just a name change. The "silly" people are those who rose up in arms about it.

It’s just a great marketing strategy to rebrand and boost sales. Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head are still a straight married couple in Toy Story. I think if they wanted to get political they should have come up with a brand new character and teach kids for gender equality which I’d totally support.

It's mad

It's just mad how much you have to pay for health care in the U.S.. Even if they manage to legalise and get enough support, not everyone will be able to financially afford the hormonal change which leads us to another unsolved problem. But that's another story for another day, I guess :(

our system is broken but it's not my responsibility to pay for someone else's hormonal change.

Roughly speaking, it's everyone's responsibility to pay for everything. At least in countries with an actual, efficient, fully functional healthcare system.

If I’m right that only covers the costs of the drugs (which is independent from the government unlike the healthcare system). There’s also a few years of physiological treatment and the actual surgery/sex change.
To be fair, there are still millions of other patients out there who are under a life-long medical care you’ve been paying for too.
The healthcare system is indeed broken and never been more broken than now, during the pandemic. I just think the legal need of “transitioning” for trans isn’t the problem, the actual problem is probably the corruption. That’s where your money goes.

Ok there we go, completely agree. They've already shown they aren't trustworthy, why should I send my money to them and trust them to do good with it.

Still don't have interest in paying someone's transition bill

I mean there’s private healthcare too if you can afford it but I don’t think that transgenders will take your money.
If you knew what you’re actually paying for you would put a lot of your concern behind.
I think it’s more about the legal support we can give at this stage. If you don’t wish to support transgenders that’s absolutely fine too, but they have nothing to do with affecting healthcare in a negative or financial way.
Besides that there’s always someone who sees the profit in this. That leads to corruptions and they will take your money, not transgenders.

That's fine. But if you're opposed in principle to paying for anyone besides yourself, stop paying taxes.

I do avoid it wherever I can, I keep my BTC and true net worth hidden if thats what you mean. Most people with something to lose don't feel like giving more to crooks.
