I've been trying for a while now to get a flat stomach (not even looking for visible abs.. yet) and can't seem to get there. I've been told it's a combination of losing enough fat in stomach area to be visible on top or ab workouts. Any suggestions to help me out? I am 6ft 1in. and currently at 171 lbs.

At that height and weight, i would think you would have a relatively flat stomach. We all have abs.... they are just covered in fat, some have a thicker layer of fat than others. So I would imagine (and I welcome alternative ideas)... burn more calories than you take in, do your ab exercises, and be patient.

Yeah it has been frustrating since I am already at a low weight and I am tall. I dont have a beer gut or anything but its definitely not a flat stomach. I have been exercising almost daily and limiting my intake of calories without starving myself.

I can’t imagine a body type where a guy at 6’1 171lbs doesn’t have a flat stomach. Abs are all about body fat % so make sure you’re in a slight caloric deficit (300-500 calories under maintenance). If people want to lose fat though, I always recommend lifting weights. In my personal experience, lifting weights burns calories and helps your overall look without leaving you starving like cardio often does

Would a picture help?

I am 6'0" and 172lbs. (You can check my recent pics). You might have a flatter stomach than you think you have! At similar heights/weights we have to be similar. I'm not 100% flat but I am proud of what I see the in mirror. My attitude colors a lot of that tho and can get down on myself. You're doing better than you think--keep it up!

I can pm anyone images of my stomach if that helps. Not a big fan posting on here since there is no way to delete it after the fact.
Sure man, you can pm me a pic. Make it a full body pic (don’t have to show your face) so I can get some perspective. I’m sure it’s flatter than you think it is. Take the pic from the side and don’t purposefully push you stomach out (stand normally)

Ah the illusive flat stomach. I've been trying to get rid of belly fat myself. The problem is I like eating. But it's still a goal.
I hear you! They always say, "Abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym," and I believe it! I've read a lot about getting that six-pack and it's just more work than I'm willing to do! Better for me to do my training, look fit, make my gains and feel good about me and my body.

Completely cut gluten out is the first step. Cut all carbs in fact.

Really don’t do this. Remember that healthy eating needs to be sustainable. If you look at the studies, there is no evidence that a low carb diet is more effective than any other for reducing fat (although you probably are more likely to lose body water initially). It’s all (well, mainly) about a calorie deficit. I would recommend calculating your TDEE, reducing the cals by 15% and tracking your intake accurately for a while using an app like MyFitnessPal.

a harmless and natural way is to drink plenty of water, take a high intensity cadio workout and massage the area you want with some coffee and grapefruit juice. Cardio workouts are bad for testosterone and muscle mass but are great ways to burn fat.

Sit ups, arms across chest, not behind your head, legs flat on the ground,....the slower you go up and down the better, alternate between.

Another is body, legs flat out, arms flat by your side and keep straight, raise your ankles both legs, 150, 200 mm of the floor and hold.

I'll also recommend looking for YouTube videos with ab workouts on them. I have saved several 3-4-5 minute long routines and will put one on at the end of my workout. It helps get a good rotation of stuff so I don't get bored, keeps the workouts moving and makes sure that you hit different parts of your abs (upper, lower, obliques).

Okay, since you're not looking to focus on having visible abs and simply want a flat stomach, I have some recommendations. First off, you need to make sure your diet is in order. Nothing I say after this matters otherwise. Now, I recommend you incorporate jump roping. Multiple 3-5 minute reps. When you get up in the morning and before you eat, do some stomach vacuums. It takes a little practice but you'll get better over time and you will feel it if you're doing it properly, trust me. You want to do some reps of burpees (at your pace), you want to do some planks, I recommend donkey kicks (a favorite core exercise of mine, I do mine in the plank position). And add some reps of scissor kicks as well. I think these would be a great starting point to your goal. Again, the diet is first and foremost. You will not have results without eating right.

Hope this helps.
