I just don't get the fascination with this stuff. OK, he knew about the meeting. So what?

What is the crime? "Collusion with the Russians" is not a crime.

Lying to the FBI or Congress about the meeting would be a crime. But no Republicans are going to vote for impeachment on those grounds -- not with Trump at 90% approval among Republican voters.

If the Trumps knew the Russians obtained the "dirt" through illegal means (such as hacking), and failed to report that information to the authorities, maybe that is a crime as well. But again, it's not at the level that Republicans are going to impeach over it.

Mueller's not going to bring criminal charges against a sitting president (that just isn't done, and even if it were the Supreme Court would rule that criminal cases cannot proceed against a sitting president). He's going to issue a report to Congress. There will have to be massive Republican support for impeachment to get anywhere. It's not going to happen.

Look, I understand the desire to get rid of Trump. He's doing some awful and scary stuff. But the way to get rid of him is to vote him out in 2020. Until then, we can largely cripple him by putting the Democrats in control of the House (and making sure they elect a Speaker with balls).

I'm not sure about that. I think a lot of republicans in congress and the senate hate Trump. Of course they go along with him, but I think they only do that to toe the party line. I think their job becomes much easier, and much more understandable with a more boilerplate, and more conservative, president Pence. That might be even worse, though, I think he would be so weak as a president he wouldn't be able to inflict his will on anything. Still, I think a more stable figurehead would be the republicans best wish at this point.

Of which you have no evidence, but only speculation.

Speculation maybe, but when based upon what one has said and defended, not altogether inaccurate. Which is why I often reference one's actual WORDS.

Your only basis for asserting otherwise is simply because you don't trust me and because I use certain expressions from internet/meme culture upon which you insist on imposing your own interpretation (rather than ever considering the speaker's own interpretation of his words).

SPEAKER'S own "interpretation"? LOLZ.... I didn't know "interpretation" of one's OWN words was even a THING.

You may be right about what the Republicans in Congress would prefer ... but their voters love Trump.

Trump right now is as popular with the voters of his party as ANY PRESIDENT HAS EVER BEEN, EVER.

A Republican congressman who voted to impeach Trump would face a backlash that would make the Tea Party look like a Junior League convention. They would face a pro-Trump primary opponent who would beat them more likely than not.

Hell, if the Republican Party turned against Trump now, Trump could just run as an independent in 2020 and consign the Republican Party to irrelevance.

If the economy keeps humming like it is, Trump will win easy. Abortion and women’s issues are his only risks. No one cares sbout the border, truly no one cares about the “ Russian connection,” most people like ICE, Blacks and Latinos are doing very well jobwise, Europe is moving to Trump on tariffs, ISIS is dead, China is having econ problems, North Korea just sent the remains of 55 soldiers back to the US, GDP is averaging 3%/month growth, the stock market is maintaining, what do you run against with him?

He will get his SCOTUS nominee confirmed.

No argument, the guy is crude, utterly unpresidential, and demeaning. However what message would you use to beat him? Abortion and women’s issue’s have traction but is that enough?

No one cares sbout the border...

You're serious? That's the main thing he ran on. My bet is that if he seriously fails to deliver on his promises on that matter, and the media does a good job of covering the shortcomings (they've been doing a very poor job of this so far), that his support may wane considerably.

If the economy sags he would be in trouble. Voters mostly care about money. He looks tough on the border anyways.

Trump’s border wall may soon be dead. It’s another sign of his weakness.

McConnell, Ryan pitch Trump on plan to avoid shutdown

The president seemed receptive to delaying a fight over border wall funding until after the election.

Americans dont like small cars. That isn’t a measure of the economy. We force car companies to build cars no one wants. Rising unemployment, a falling stock market or accelerating inflation will get voter attention.

BTW do you progs spend all day looking up bad news?! kinda creepy. Sargon and bc are completely wacked out scouring for bad news, hope you are a little more balanced.

The issue isn't small cars - its big jobs. About 3,000 will be immediately affected by a GM shutdown here. A lot of there jobs are Trump voters. His 25% tariff on American cars will kill many thousands more jobs - again also Trump voters. Understanding the consequences of the "unicorn riding a unicorn over the rainbow" (Sean Spicer's description of Donald Trump in his new book) is not looking for bad news, its being realistic.

Now he is talking government shutdown before the election - God bless him. He sows the seeds of his own destruction and the GOP flails like a guy who jumped off the Empire State Building and says, he's not worried about anything because so far its been a pretty smooth trip.

Since you like to keep tossing my name up in your b.s. commentaries allow me to RESPOND.

We're not "wacked out" nor "scouring for bad news," champ. FACT is you can't MISS it.

Unless you're a CONSERVATIVE living in some alternate reality world where all of Trump's SHIT that occurs almost on a DAILY BASIS, ever since that -------------- has occupied the Oval Office, DOESN'T MATTER.

Which to YOU, it apparently DOESN'T seeing as how you've said EXACTLY that.
