Trump announces ban on transgender people in U.S. military

President Trump said he will ban transgender people from serving in the military in any capacity, a reversal of the Obama administration decision that would have allowed them to serve, he announced on social media on Wednesday.

Citing the need to focus on victory, Trump said that the military cannot accept the burden of higher medical costs and “disruption” that transgender troops would require.

“After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail.”

It turns out it was a cynical, POLITICAL decision. View attachment 784459

Trump has small penis syndrome. That's what it comes down to.

Do you mean HRH? If it is, HRH is Her Royal Highness or His Royal Highness. Both of which refer to the sovereign.

Not as of a few hundred years ago. "His/Her Royal Highness" is a style that would be used for the Prince of Wales, for example, rather than the King/Queen. "His/Her Majesty" is the modern era style for the King/Queen.

I was not aware of that, although HRH is still commonly used when referring to the sovereign.

I would guess that would be by people who don't understand. Do a Google search for "Her Royal Highness the Queen" and then "Her Majesty the Queen". You will see that all of the official hits will come up for the latter.

Yes we know conservatives love fetuses but once it's born fuck off and die. It's not pro-life at all. Just another grand lie.

As much as you complain about Liberals / the Left being generalized, this sort of rhetoric is just as bad. Sure, some on the Right are like that, but certainly not so many as to justify this. And besides, you're addressing something I said about abortion. And I'm sure you haven't a clue what my life ethic looks like.

I would challenge you to find me complaining about that. I'm willing to be wrong so the evidence please.

this sort of rhetoric is just as bad. Sure, some on the Right are like that, but certainly not so many as to justify this.

No 'the right' just keeps voting in more and more congressmen that propose more and more drastic invasive strategies.

And I'm sure you haven't a clue what my life ethic looks like.

Do I need to know? Your voice is in the people "the right" puts into office to speak for them.

Freedom of speech I've expressed concern for, in this thread.

Translation: Freedom to attack minorities (sexual, religious and/or racial). So no bonus points ;)

I don't need any points. I'm not trying to prove myself to you. I'm simply demonstrating how ridiculous it was for you to suggest I'm broadly unconcerned with civil rights.

No you just happen to always be on the wrong side of them.

The military is the one field above any we ought not be hyperventilating over civil rights.

Seemingly oblivious to how the military once banned blacks, gays and women. Yes why "hyperventilate' over reversing the gains?

AMERICA MUST PULL TOGETHER.
The American Military should stand firm, shoulder to shoulder with their various brothers and sisters.
PUT TRUMP IN HIS PLACE RE HOMOSEXUAL;S AND TRANSGENDER PERSONEL IN THE ARMED FORCES - AND WHAT ABOUT GOVERNMENT, THE ARTS, THE MEDIA AND MANUFACTURING - THE LIST WHERE HIS EDICTS COULD COME INTO PLAY IS ENDLESS.

His stupid reason of its down to cost - what about the cost to the Americans for protecting all the Trump Residences, the added protection of Trump Towers across America, all borne by the Tax Payers - and it far exceeds in size, scope and cost anything that has ever had to be done for any other President.,

AMERICANS STAND UP AND BE COUNTED

Candidate for top Homeland Security job withdraws over Trump transgender troops ban

A candidate for a top position at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) pulled his name from consideration for the job on Thursday after President Trump's announcement that transgender Americans would be banned from serving in the armed forces "in any capacity."
John Fluharty, a former executive director of the Delaware Republican party, told the agency in an email that he was no longer seeking the position of assistant secretary of partnership and engagement after Trump's announcement on Twitter Wednesday morning.

Fluharty wrote in the email, first obtained by Politico, that Trump's surprise decision to ban all transgender troops from serving in the armed forces "runs counter to my deeply held beliefs."

“As I mentioned in our conversation, I am a strong advocate for diversity, both in the Republican Party and in government,” Fluharty wrote. “The President’s announcement this morning — that he will ban all of those who identify as transgender from military service — runs counter to my deeply held beliefs, and it would be impossible for me to commit to serving the Administration knowing that I would be working against those values.”

Leave it Malakos to know how to kow-tow to hereditary degrees of social inequity...

As far as HRH, she is also the Queen of Canada so I have a vested interest. You are obviously ignorant of what she does for the British Commonwealth of Nations. The royal family generates a huge amount of tourism in Great Britain and that generates a great deal more money than the royal family costs.

Right, she does all those important duties, excluding, maybe, shopping-center openings...she opens her mail, waves on the balcony, and takes the money. Her life is ceremonial

Queen of Canada? Laissez-moi rire! I thought that title belonged to a drag queen in Moose Jaw.
If she's royalty, at least she should stop wearing those dowdy hats from Millie's Hat Barn in Tulsa...

If you keep transgenders from getting hormone treatments and surgical operations paid for on the taxpayer's dime while they are in the military, that would be just fine by me.

You don't have to outright ban transgenders in their own.

Once their medical isn't being paid for, they will leave the military all on their own.

Let's do the same for all military undergoing medical treatment and save the taxpayer even more money, right?

That would be absolutely fine by me.

If it is not a service connected injury or illness, then the taxpayer should not be paying for it.

As a side note, back in 2012 when I was waiting for my pulmonologist appointment I noticed a bunch of camouflaged uniform clad personnel in the waiting room. They were from all 4 military services. Then I noticed their sleeves...lots and lots of stripes.

So when I got to see the doctor, I asked him about it. He said that if they get diagnosed with sleep apnea before they retire, they get a 50% disability rating. So once they retire, 50% of their pension check is tax free for the rest of their lives.

Now....here is the crux of the situation for me....how is sleep apnea connected to their service?

To me, it looked like a bunch of dudes just milking the system.

Well, to me, your post looks like just another personal anecdote, the truth of which can't be verified...
