Today in TRUMP INSPIRED HATE:

Meanwhile, undeniably an indication of how much racism, bigotry, and outright HATE has become normalized under Trump's OCCUPATION, when the only defense one can muster is that Tucker Carlson should be free to defame and say ANYTHING he cares to without consequences because one would have to be BATSHIT CRAZY TO BELIEVE HIM.

What a fkn WORLD:

Judge tosses defamation suit against Tucker Carlson: 'any reasonable viewer' shouldn't believe him

Which is also why the mother of a murderer who crossed state lines to KILL two protesters gets a fkn standing ovation from the REICH. Because she's OBVIOUSLY done SUCH A FINE JOB:

Well, you know how it goes, bro. Only BLM protesters are "thugs and domestic terrorists." NONE of the HUNDREDS of hateful mf--------- we've posted stories about HERE.

It's a little disturbing that you would pretend the cases are at all comparable. :expressionless:

The claim of 'self defense' gives the right the cover they need to express their racist shit. They sympathized with Roof, but had no cover to express it. That is what connects them. Two white guys decided to kill black people is what ties them as 'similar.'

Yup, not to mention the fact that their backgrounds are very similar and how they got to the point of actually killing people.

Why aren't they comparable ?

One involved going into a church and open fire on many attending the service. The other involved shooting at a few individuals from a larger group he was being attacked by. Those are the most fundamentally defining characteristics of the cases from what I can see. And there's no similarity on that level.

If he was acting in self-defense, as it appears to me at first glance that he was, I'm unconcerned with how those external to the incident are taking advantage of that fact. That doesn't change the nature of the incidence itself.

gives the right the cover they need to express their racist shit. They sympathized with Roof, but had no cover to express it.

Who is "the right"?

That is what connects them.

I just want to reiterate here that how the incidence is being exploited in public discourse doesn't tell us anything about the nature of the incidence itself, and thus it doesn't tell us anything about how the incidence was or was not similar to the church massacre.

Two white guys decided to kill black people is what ties them as 'similar.'

Seems like quite a stretch to make this essentially about targeting Blacks, given that all three of those who were shot appear to be White.

The Kenosha shooter was not being attacked. Those people were trying to disarm him after he killed someone. There was no self defense involved at all. The motivation for committing both acts are similar. Both have similar backgrounds as well. obsessed with fire arms. problems in school.

HATERS GOTTA HATE:

proudboys.jpg

White supremacist and far-right group the Proud Boys has garnered more attention this week after Donald Trump mentioned the hate group during Tuesday night’s presidential debate.

Instead of denouncing white supremacy as he was asked to do, Trump gave the group orders: “Proud Boys: Stand back and stand by,” he said. “But I’ll tell you what, somebody’s got to do something about antifa and the left because this is not a right-wing problem, this is a left-wing [problem].”

Since its inception in 2016, the Proud Boys group has engaged in politically motivated violence. Trump’s words were taken as a call to prepare for action by many members, who also happen to be his supporters.

Both the Anti-Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center have noted that the “gang” is violent and hateful, with "anti-Muslim and misogynistic rhetoric.”

In a video that resurfaced and went viral Thursday, multiple clips of Proud Boys co-founder Gavin McInnes depict the reality of the group. McInnes is depicted not only openly calling “for violence generally” but emphasizing that he encourages members to use violence to express themselves. “We need more violence from the Trump people,” he says in one of the video clips.

ALSO, seems the entrenchment of white supremacist rhetoric and ideology has LONG been a reality and not just in the U.S.:

ABC News released a new documentary yesterday (Tuesday) about the moments in U.S. history that terrorists have reared their ugly heads. “Homegrown Hate: The War Among Us” describes it as a “monster in hibernation” that resurfaced 22 years after the Oklahoma City bombing and 54 years after civil rights protesters were sprayed with firehoses.

The displays of violence at the hands of the white supremacists and violent militias aren’t new. In “Homegrown Hate,” the documentary team walks through the decades of violence and intimidation that continues to grow unobstructed by Donald Trump’s administration.

Former Homeland Security official Elizabeth Neumann revealed after leaving the Trump administration that during a 2019 conference on terrorism, the overwhelming majority of western leaders were concerned not about “radical Islamic terrorism,” a term the GOP had demanded Democrats use. They were focusing on right-wing extremism.

While this White House continues to ignore its responsibility to protect Americans from terrorism, the ongoing epidemic continues to grow.

“Homegrown Hate traces the origins of the KKK that rose out of the ashes of the Civil War and connects to the modern-day white-supremacy/white-power movement that was spawned during Vietnam, grew steadily, led directly to the radicalization of 1995 Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh and then morphed into what exists today,” ABC said in the description of the documentary.

“The documentary also examines the rise in current day hate crimes, how the government is combatting the threat and how it is, in some ways, failing to do what needs to be done.”

Op-Ed: Why white nationalists are a potent threat to American democracy - Los Angeles Times

The plot by militia members to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is only the latest example of the threat posed by far-right extremists. Social media posts of the accused showed that they drew from multiple far-right movements, including the Boogaloo Boys.

Their intention of starting a civil war “leading to societal collapse” has long been a goal of white supremacists and terrorists. Just as in the Whitmer plot, white nationalists and far-right actors have one primary aim: undermining multiracial democracy.

These groups seek to maintain white power by any means, and American democracy is now seen as a barrier to this goal. This has translated into two broad strategies. The first is to advocate for an all-white ethno-state that would serve as a nonviolent solution to the problem of racial integration. For proponents of such a state, whiteness as an inherently moral essence in an individual, and, collectively, the basis for a political utopia.

The other strategy in the white nationalist playbook is more direct: the overthrow of the democratic state or its destabilization through increasing acts of violence.

This past week, 13 men belonging to paramilitary groups were arrested in a horrifying plot to kidnap Michigan’s Democratic governor, Gretchen Whitmer. Based on what can be gleaned from the men’s social media pages, they fit a familiar profile of far-right vigilantism in America.

They are white men. Most appear to be supporters of Donald Trump. They consume disinformation and conspiracy theories online with abandon. They see a new American civil war on the horizon, and they’re more than eager to fire some of the first shots.

They ... are part of an insurgent Make America Great Again fascist movement here, the size and power of which keeps me up at night. Although it’s a movement with origins that long predate Trump, it’s one that today generates much of its cruel energy and momentum from his words.

“LIBERATE MICHIGAN!” Trump tweeted in April in a show of support for the armed protesters gathering outside Michigan’s state Capitol to protest Whitmer’s COVID-19 lockdown measures.

In the weeks that followed, these supporters would march into the state Capitol carrying long guns. They stood along a balcony and looked down menacingly at legislators. Among them were some of the 13 militia group members arrested this week.

Whitmer blamed Trump for the plot to kidnap her, telling reporters Thursday that [his] rhetoric “incites more domestic terror.”

Scholars of fascism, who have long warned of this link between a leader’s rhetoric and the violence committed by his followers, agree.

And from the Department of Good ol' Boys, seems WE in these parts have our OWN PICK OF THE LITTER when it comes to the back-arsewardness of the famously NARROW MINDED:

Billy Nungesser really wants to watch while you drink | News | Gambit Weekly | nola.com

Something about tracking Hurricane Delta in the middle of a pandemic has made this week, like every week in 2020, a lot. So you may have missed some of the crazy things Louisiana politicians have been spewing in the meantime.

But don’t worry, we would never let you get away so easily.

Let’s start with Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser. He’s been infamously floating the idea of turning the French Quarter into a state park for years now — something about making the place a little more "family friendly." Mayor LaToya Cantrell has said she’s not interested, but on Wednesday, Nungesser told Shreveport radio station 710 KEEL he is still actively working on a plan that would give control of the Quarter to the state, rather than the city.
[right... as if efforts to snatch control of the Big (not so) Easy from a Black majority government is anything NEW.]

Part of that clean up? “Crime cameras all over that Quarter” and a unified police presence, according to the lieutenant governor. Because if there’s one thing that makes everyone feel safe when they’re chugging a Huge Ass Beer it’s being watched by Big Brother.

Then, there was the national media’s favorite quote generator U.S. Sen. John Kennedy, who told Fox News Monday that the White House outbreak of COVID-19, the same virus that has killed more than a million people worldwide and 5,416 in Louisiana, showed the virus is “not nearly as lethal as the experts told us it was going to be.”

Not to be out done, Rep. Clay Higgins decided to crank up his crazy machine to 11 in a Facebook post Thursday when he shared a BBC article titled “Coronavirus: Health experts join global anti-lockdown movement.” The article focuses on a minority of scientists who believe in herd immunity, but that is a fringe position, as most health experts warn that more people getting the virus will lead to many more people dying and developing lifelong health conditions. Plus, scientists aren’t yet sure if reinfection is possible.

Luckily, Higgins isn’t one to let science or facts get in the way of a good old-fashioned conspiracy theory.

SPEAKING OF WHICH, more assholery, as only John Kennedy could MUSTER:
