That's not what he said.

He said that there were people at the rally who were not affiliated with white power movements, but were just there to protest the removal of the confederate statue.

Trump is a piece of shit, stop making me defend him.
.
Doesn't matter what was said. Everyone hears what they want to hear. Everyone is spinning right now. Every syllable, every cadence, is being analyzed, and re-analyzed. The world we now live in. But acknowledge your view in any case for having some principles. Not much here, or anywhere for that matter. Kudos. But quite the predicament you've put yourself in trying to be a voice of objectivity.

Trump is a dumpster fire. His removal from office can't come quickly enough. He is an embarrassment to the Nation. He does not hold American values. Any members of his staff who do not resign today are complicit. History will not judge them well.

So whatever spin YOU wish to add in that respect is therfore appropriate, encouraged, supported, and acceptable. You missed the point completely (as usual) with your apoplectic blindness.

No spin at all. I was being totally objective. My statement was mild compared to how I feel. Republicans who do not denounce this president are also complicit and cover themselves with shame.

Oh, it's quite clear how you feel. The point being made (in response to texanstar's post) was about being true to what is said, and not allow one's emotions to get the better of you. It's clear that by your blanket statement that you have an alternative view on the term "objective."

Stop playing semantics and tell us how you feel about the President and his remarks and actions. You're either complicit with his remarks or you're not. Your chiming in with cryptic remarks is annoying. There is no way to parse his remarks. Mr Trump is now President of the Confederacy and White Nationalists. Deal with it. Trump is more politically isolated and more lacking in moral authority today than Nixon was deep into Watergate.

Baltimore quietly took down Confederate statues overnight, days after violence broke out over the removal of a similar monument in Virginia
Wednesday, August 16, 2017 7:21 AM EDT
Statues dedicated to Confederate heroes were swiftly removed across Baltimore in the small hours of Wednesday morning, just days after violence broke out over the removal of a similar monument in neighboring Virginia.
Beginning soon after midnight on Wednesday, a crew, which included a large crane and a contingent of police officers, began making rounds of the city’s parks and public squares, tearing the monuments from their pedestals and carting them out of town.

You're seeking empathy, compassion and morality from those who have none. It's a lost cause. The only hope is the 90 million that sat home on election day now see the result of sitting it out.

Republicans, cut the outrage. It’s time to disown Trump.
By Jennifer Rubin August 16 at 9:15 AM

The party of Lincoln is now the party of Robert E. Lee, Jefferson Davis and Southern slave owners who decided to kill fellow Americans so that they could keep men, women and children enslaved. The Republican Party, in other words, has obliterated its entire historical legacy and become the party of the Enemies of Lincoln.

And let’s be clear: Republicans cannot say, “That’s not us — that’s just President Trump.” They supported him, they elected him, they defended him and they gave him the aura of a normal presidency. They cannot be the party of Lincoln and be the party of Trump. In that vein, we can dispense with Republicans’ “outrage,” “frustration,” “anger” and all other meaningless expressions of internal sentiment. Unless and until they are prepared to do something — not just send tweets — to politically disown Trump, the party is toast and none of its members should be elected or reelected.

Please tell me how pointing out that violence was initiated by both protesters and counter-protesters is synonymous to support for the white nationalism movement.

Let me say separately, I do think Trump, through other statements in the past, does support those groups, but specifically on this case in Virginia, help me understand why you think what he said suggests support for white nationalism.

Unf-ing believable. Revisionist history. Who decides or gets to write our history now? All in the name of PC. Look what we have become.

No Empathy? No Companion? No Morality? What happened to Heather Heyer was a tragedy, a horror, wrong. It shouldn't have happened. Show me where anyone here said she got what she deserved. Stop with the BS. That murderer should get the death penalty (oops, we're against that, pardonez-moi. Maybe you're right, no empathy or compassion).

They LOST. Get over it.
Do we have Nazi floats in Veteran's Day parades? How do you think it feels to any black person to see those who fought for the institution of slavery glorified? What next? You expect black people to be happy forced to sing "Dixie"?

What does the phrase revisionist history mean to you?

To me, it means when someone takes historical facts and changes them when communicating the story. For example, if we omit the involvement of the CIA in the overthrow of Iran's Democratically elected president, that's revisionist history. We've revised the telling of it in order to change the meaning.

How does the removal of a statue celebrating a confederate soldier or leader change the depiction of the events that happened? It points to less celebration of the events that occurred, but there's no change of the events.

You're truly an ass. No one is forcing anyone to sing Dixie you dolt. But do we remove all dark history to make it go away so not to offend, all in the name of PC. Again, who decides? How do we ever learn from the past so these don't repeat?

Keep your damn statues in a museum like we do with most of history. You can keep practicing your Nazi salute in the privacy of your hovel jackass. What "dark history" do we glorify with statues and parades?I forgot, you have two sets of standards for blacks and whites(your posting history so don't deny it).

So a statue is a celebration? It is also to acknowlege an event. Removing it in the name of PC is revising our history. So now it's gone so we don't have to see it, recall it. Removed. Gone. As will be the lessons learned.
