I have never, in my 15 years of living here, ever once experienced any problems with my immediate Muslim neighbours nor the wider community. In fact, the times that I have experienced homophobia it has been from angry white men. That same demographic which has now elected Trump. If that's the answer, then it needs to apply across the board--no specific legal targeting of LGBT people. That means my "religious freedom" allows me to discriminate against people of other races or religions, people in interracial marriages, couples living out of wedlock--basically, anyone I want. The only recourse, in any of those instances, is to boycott such businesses.

If you're willing to go back to those days, at least your argument is consistent.
