The Associated Press is learning how to cover Trump. From today:
WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. government, citing unspecified threats, is barring passengers on nonstop, U.S.-bound flights from eight mostly Middle Eastern and North African countries from bringing laptops, tablets, electronic games and other devices on board in carry-on bags.

Passengers flying to the United States from 10 airports will be allowed only cellphones and smartphones in the passenger cabins,...
Makes no sense.

Makes no sense.

It can make sense, but only in really weird scenarios that should be in the realm of tinfoil hats, but the actions of this administration suggest they're not so far-fetched.

Like if someone is trying to use the US government to sabotage business interests in certain countries by making it harder for business travelers to work on international flights, banning use of laptops during the flight would be one way to generate such interference.

And electronic games too? I have a more simple explanation: it is a bone for the racists after the banning on people has been declared illegal. The impliciti idea is that muslims from 'not allied countries' coming to USA could have a bomb in their smartphones I think; but how allowing them in passengers cabins solves the problem? Extremist terrorists are generally suicides. And how about I go from Libya to Germany, I stay there for a month, than fly to USA? That's how terrorism works lately, I guess Trump' advisors haven't been looking at Europe chronicles in the last few years.

UK just enacted the same ban, but with a different list of airlines / countries affected.

Canada's announced they're looking at enacting the same ban as well.

Looks like they're reacting to some kind of threat (maybe it's not necessarily related to an explosive, but some kind of interference generating program that could interfere with flight controls or something)?

It wasn't long ago that certain members here strongly voiced their hate and contempt for President Obama. Funny how these same people can't take anyone voicing an opinion against their man.Talk about hypocritical.

Banning certain news organizations is very short sighted no matter who does/did it. What I find deplorable is President Trumps selected reference to news sources. One day they're attacked for spreading fake news and the next he's quoting them or better yet fabricating a story to justify his own lies (fake news).

Now some people might not like a foreigner (non-American member), passing judgement on their president but the view from here is very clear. President Trump is a bully and a lier, doesn't have an ounce of diplomacy. He's so enamoured by his own importance he either doesn't know or doesn't care that his mouth is his worst enemy.

Did anyone notice at the press conference with Merkle, Merkle said "its better to talk to people that talk about them"? That was a major diplomatic put-down. And I doubt Trump has realized it yet. He maybe able to bully his suppliers but you won't get away with it with other countries. And I liked how Merkle stood up to him regarding free trade negotiations.

TS, that's not impossible, but doesn't look likely to me. I am not alone finding no sense in it.

At the time that article was written, it was just the USA which had enacted such a ban.

Since then, UK has enacted a similar ban. Canada's stated they're considering it.

It's definitely peculiar, but with other countries doing the same thing it's hard to make the case that it's just racism (It's not like Canada is a den of rabid anti-muslim rhetoric).

I found the duo pretty funny, looked like materialized from a sit-com.

Not that funny like the duo Merkel-Berlusconi though.
