If you believe there will be a great renaissance of thriving factory towns in the Nation, you are also mired in the 1950's.
I can't say what the future holds. Some of the loss in manufacturing jobs is from offshoring, but some is due to efficiency (more automation of the manufacturing process by robots). Even as jobs have declined, the amount of goods we were making here in the USA increased.
But the number of jobs is on the rise recently. Blame Trump, don't blame Trump, it is what it is (and what it "is" is an industry that's been adding jobs). Your statement that those jobs are never coming back is already proven false by recent labor statistics. Some of them already came back.
