Sorry i missed the part where he was going to send all the LGBT people to gitmo. When was this going to happen?
Nobody said he will send LGBT people to gitmo, even though several of his cabinet approve making homosexuality illegal (that would make LGBT people go to jail, not gitmo). He's already appointing judges to revoke our civil rights and repeal anti- discrimination laws.

Well here it is after the election and all these "victims" are no where to be seen . Smells like a gloria allred set up to me...lol.

If my claims went unheard while he was just a candidate, I'm sure I would be eager to keep challenging him once he's the most powerful man in the world.

I'm still scratching and shaking my head over the rationale over picks like this and Rick Perry. Sorry, I couldn't stomach watching it. Hs trump ever said why such outlandish picks for HUDD & energy? Especially since they have no background in the area.

It's like he's (trump) taking it for a joke. He never even said why they would good for the job except they're going to be so terrific. McConnell and trump seem to have this blitz attack method, Hit'em with bullshit, and they "maybe" can pick off one of ours.

Hell, just the fact that McConnell's wife will have position, in addition to trump's daughter and her husband in contrast to his criticism of Clinton and some of his republican campaign opponents is still breath taking. Well, McConnell's wife hasn't been confirmed yet, BUT IT'S McCONNELL'S WIFE.

Can you imagine any family/ relative, neighbor of Chuck Schumer. Or even better, the stink they made over some bullshit of Chelsea Clinton having people meet her mom was pay for play that turned out to be nothing.

And now some are saying, if she /Clinton knew about this and would've done a better job at cleaning it up,. maybe people would've trusted her more. I'm like are you fuckin kidding me!??!

His (trump's)daughter and son in law are in the meetings with global leaders before he takes office and she has business ventures in some of those countries and THAT'S not pay for play!?!? Think what he said yesterday when confronted about his conflicts of interests, " But I won the election. I'm president now. All of this about conflicts of interests, I won. "

Ben Carson Vows “No Extra Rights” For LGBT Americans During HUD Secretary Confirmation Hearing [VIDEO]

January 12, 2017 Christianists, Crackpots

The Hill reports:

Trump Cabinet pick Ben Carson reiterated his belief Thursday that LGBT Americans don’t deserve “extra rights.” During Carson’s confirmation hearing, Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) pressed the Housing and Urban Development nominee about whether he would enforce LGBT protections in the public housing sector.

“Of course, I would enforce all the laws of the land,” Carson responded. “Of course, I think all Americans should be protected by the law.” “What I have said before is I don’t think anyone should get ‘extra rights,’” he added.

Carson’s remarks mirror those from his 2014 CPAC speech: “Of course gay people should have the same rights as everyone else, but they don’t get extra rights,” Carson said at the time. “They don’t get to redefine marriage.”

In the past Carson has also declared that prison turns men gay and that it’s “not very smart” for gays to press for wedding cakes because Christians “might put poison in there.”

Elaine Chao was a member of George W. Bush's Cabinet from 2001 to 2009. Mitch McConnell has been a member of the Senate since 1984. I don't know how her confirmation would be any different than when she was appointed and confirmed before. If anything, she has more experience now.

God I wish this forum didn't have so many glitches and would allow you to edit. Her name is Elaine Chao.

Oh yeah, I can see how he's friends with trump. They have common enemy, those dam takers. Always with their hand out wanting a "Special this, Special that".

Rachel, Rachel, Why are you astonished? We saw this right after he (trump)picked MConnell's wife for the position.

Who Is Elaine Chao? Donald Trump Cabinet Pick Is Mitch McConnell's Wife And Establishment Republican

Now it all makes sense, the more pressure they put on Paul Ryan to denounce trump, it was tepid at best.

A tactic I personally disapprove of from the media. I thank that's not their role..

Oh to be a fly on the wall when trump met with them {Republican congressional leaders} before the election knowing who was getting hooked up. It must've been like they were on Oprah

The sad part is the Russians only chose to air the democrats behind the scenes dirty laundry. How convenient.

Let's see them investigate the hacking as they promised like Benghazi.

So my question N68 is if Elaine Chao and Mitch McConnell were Senator and Cabinet members before, (with little to no disapproval) why the (increased) uproar now?

I can certainly understand rumblings about nearly everyone else nominated for the incoming Cabinet, but with these two it's like Jerry Brown who was Governor of CA in the 1970s and Governor of CA now. His detractors have been saying the same thing about him for 40 years but nothing has really changes with these lifetime politicans so how could there be a +1000 push to say she's going to be a problem now?

As far as I'm concerned, I only bring it up as clearly as I can. I'm not exactly questioning Elaine Chao's credentialing AT ALL. I'm thinking my observion is very clear. Before, during, and after the election, reporters reached out to McConnell for comment on some key issues and comments regarding trump and he avoided them like the plague.

I am even clear, that I hate when the media does the gotcha' games.

That said, I am clearly pointing out that regardless of Elaine Chao's credentialing, if the roles were reverse, seriously, I WOULD say the same thing.

McConnell didn't have to speak on trump's action, even though for whatever reason, reporters were trying to get a feel for how he would work with trump. I remember that being asked a handful of times and he either had positive things to say or had no comment, well within his right. And now his wife gets picked for a cabinet position. HMMmmmm????

'SHE' may be fine. But I'm speaking to the appearance of quid pro quo. And the hypocrisy of the big pay for play deal trump and his surrogates said about Clinton and THIS doesn't look like a hook up??? That's how it comes across to me. And maybe it's just me, cuz none one else is making an issue about it. I just feel my gut tells me.....I got it.

I got it. It's because of the interactions I too have with being part of the feds. MAN, they hammer that shit about the hatch act/ improprieties like a Mo-Fo. And just the idea as it comes across to me like business as usual.

When I know people had to recuse themselves from much less/ lower GS positions they were qualified for. When you hear government officials on cable shows harping on the theme of the appearance of improprieties in government agencies bring problems, they aren't lying.

In closing, that conference of Trump's yesterday, had some of his staunchest supporters I'm surrounded by do several double takes when HE had the appearance he was just blowing off what appears to be nepotism run amuck.

Well thank you for clarifying your thoughts about the issue. I can certainly see with your line of work where you and those around you have to "watch your p's and q's" so closely when it comes to possible improprieties. All I can say is it's just more "do as we say, not as we do".

I singled out Elaine Chao only due to the reasons I've stated previously but also because of the articles that I did see about her were (surprisingly under the circumstances) all very positive:

http://www.motherjones.com/politics...tors-during-elaine-chaos-confirmation-hearing

http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-...nfirmation-as-trumps-transportation-secretary

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/11/...confirmation-hearing-transportation.html?_r=0

Your post was the first non-supportive post that I had seen, so I just wanted to see what I (and I guess these articles) had missed about her.

He's already appointing judges to revoke our civil rights and repeal anti- discrimination laws.

So I'm trying to figure out how this happened. Here in Chicago where I am its 11:30 pm on 12 January 2017. Trump will not become the President until noon (eastern time) on 20 January 2017, about a week from now. How does this man, who is currently not President and has never been President, have the authority to appoint judges? Please explain.

Look, I'm no fan of Trump. I didn't vote for him, nor did I vote for Clinton. However, I don't think this kind of baseless hysteria serves you well. I mean no disrespect and I think I understand your concern, but please try to take a deep breath and settle down.

No, he's not in office yet, he can't appoint anyone, YET

Baseless? Seriously? He and his administration will be the worst this country has ever seen. He will make the GWB serial disasters (Katrina, 9/11, Iraq, the financial collapse) look like a normal state of affairs by comparison. He's already setting the stage with his cabinet picks of crooks and liars, rejects and recycles from the Bush Administration. How else can this not be a disaster?

The Trump presidency is going to be unconscionable, disgraceful beyond compare and exceedingly difficult to endure. No one will be spared.

One thing is certain: America’s place in the world will never be the same. While we might someday restore a bit of our strength and grace, we will not recover from Trump. Not completely. Not ever.

Love will regroup, wounds will heal. But January 20, 2017 will be one of the bleakest, blackest days in American history, and our humiliation will be complete. Hide the children.

Supreme judges are appointed by presidents. It is inevitable that Trump will be president. The appointment must be approved by Congress. Senate is 52% GOP, and the House is 55%. It is inevitable that the appointments will be approved. If someone were about to shoot you in the head, would it only be reasonable to worry once the bullet enters your skull?

Man, I really jacked this up. When I hear him say no special rights for LGBT folks, that's not all I hear and expect.

Let me clarify. Call it generalizations, call it what you want, but that train is never late. Often times when you hear people criticizing others of just wanting "stuff" and "special rights", watch out.

Now mind you as working with and part of the feds, I do my share of criticizing even coworkers who try to drain the drib of toothpaste left in the tube. That criticism I get.

But from the likes of Clarence Thomas to Ben Carson who directly benefited from resources they now condemn, or it's just a side note in a bibliography, get out the hip boots cuz the bullshit is coming.

And I get that from them the actual source. They have to first start out by making their declaration, no free rides, play by the rules and success is sure to come.

And speaking of affirmative action, it's the only way to explain just giving someone a cabinet position, just because.

No back ground, no experience, he didn't ask for it, and trump just picked him.

Yet he's worrying about other people getting special treatment.

I tell you, Trump hasn't taken office yet and his actions and cabinet pick you just can't make to keep from laughing out loud.
