Trump jumps into a divisive battle over the Republican Party — with a threat to start a ‘MAGA Party’

PALM BEACH, Fla. — Former president Donald Trump threw himself back into politics this weekend by publicly endorsing a devoted and divisive acolyte in Arizona who has embraced his false election conspiracy theories and entertained the creation of a new "MAGA Party."

In a recorded phone call, Trump offered his “complete and total endorsement” for another term for Arizona state party chairwoman Kelli Ward, a lightning rod who has sparred with the state’s Republican governor, been condemned by the business community and overseen a recent flight in party registrations. She narrowly won reelection, by a margin of 51.5 percent to 48.5 percent, marking Trump’s first victory in a promised battle to maintain political relevance and influence after losing the 2020 election.

In recent weeks, Trump has entertained the idea of creating a third party, called the Patriot Party, and instructed his aides to prepare election challenges to lawmakers who crossed him in the final weeks in office, including Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R), Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Rep. Tom Rice (R-S.C.), according to people familiar with the plans.

Multiple people in Trump’s orbit, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss private conversations, say Trump has told people that the third-party threat gives him leverage to prevent Republican senators from voting to convict him during the Senate impeachment trial. Trump advisers also say they plan to recruit opposing primary candidates and commission polling next week in districts of targeted lawmakers. Trump has more than $70 million in campaign cash banked to fund his political efforts, these people say.
There's a website with no much so far.

As the Reich Wing becomes more and more Reich the radicalized the Republican Party will no longer suffice. Fox News will no longer suffice, peaceful elections will no longer suffice. Trump, Newsmax, One America News and armed resistance is the only way forward.

An excellent idea
Trump can start a MAGA party - as long as he gets some pardoned crook to collect the donations = and this will really put the GOP on a hat wearing spree.

Introductory Statement
From "MAGA Republican Party" Statement Dated Nov. 10 , 2020:

Excerpt (A)
"The Trump Revolution has begun. The MAGA Republican Party (MRP) has been born. Election week 2020 was the launch of the biggest coupe, heist, treason, disinformation campaign ever launched on the American people."

^^Although the word coup is misspelled in the above text - ironically Trump and his cohorts, including the insurrectionists of Jan.6, 2021, committed all of the previously mentioned activities in their effort to sow distrust in and unlawfully overturn the 2020 election results.

The Republican Party, and its right-wing extremists, are still trotting out the same tired old tactics of using McCarthyism/ "red scare" propaganda against their political opponents, and, ironically, they have accused their opposition of crimes their own comrades did - e.g. the post-insurrection attempt to shift the blame to Antifa - as follows:

Excerpt(B)
"Big Tech, Big Media and the Democrat Socialist Communist Party (DSCP) colluded together to overthrow the government...to end/manipulate Democracy in effort to obtain their socialist/communist objectives for full control over you...THEY control the media, Big Tech and entertainment manipulating reality. On Election week, America got a taste for ...what it feels like to live in an oppressed communist country like China, North Korea, etc. having free speech suppressed and fake propaganda pumped out from the big 5 media outlets in unison after attempting to steal the election... "
*The #2 method of operation is accusing your opposition of the crimes your are actually doing.

NEWS FLASH: The MAGA revolution is here to stay, we are not afraid to fight, and we won’t back down for our American rights of free speech, freedom and democracy. The MAGA Republican Party is for the people by the people in God we Trust."

I suspect this is yet another Trump grift/scam - where the campaign cash will be for him alone and not a Republican MAGA Party. Trump is cash strapped, faces charges of IRS fraud, lawsuits from parties defamed by his 2020 election disinformation campaign, mounting debts from failing real estate ventures, unpaid bank loans and possible civil damages stemming from the right-wing extremist attack he caused to occur on the US Capitol building.

Trump, You're Fired.

Ignoring calls to pull back, Gaetz slams Cheney in her home state
In keeping with the intraparty fracture of the GOP by Trump loyalists - a Trump flunky / Matt Gaetz went to Wyoming in order to diss Liz Cheney at a campaign rally: Article Excerpt:
Rep. Matt Gaetz fired off a barrage of insults against his colleague Liz Cheney during a rally in her home state of Wyoming on Thursday — a raw embodiment of the cleavage across the Republican Party following President Donald Trump's exit from office. But talk of impeachment made only a glancing appearance in Gaetz's rally. The congressman mostly opted to portray Cheney as in cahoots with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Democrats like President Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to sustain a status quo that works for Washington at the expense of main street America. He accused Cheney of being out of touch with the cowboy values of her home state of Wyoming, calling himself a supporter of "prairie populism."

Cheney's team has largely brushed off Gaetz' attacks, with one member of her office telling CNN this week: "Rep. Gaetz can leave his beauty bag at home. In Wyoming, the men don't wear make-up." (The dig is an apparent reference to Gaetz's use of makeup in an HBO documentary about his time in office).
In a statement to POLITICO, former Wyoming State Rep. Amy Edmonds put it equally bluntly Thursday: "Wyoming doesn’t like it when outsiders come into our state and try to tell us what to do."

Do any of you really "believe" that decrepit D.Trump will actually be mentally, physically, and financially FIT to "run" for the Presidency, in 2024?

LOOK at him!... The very concept is ludicrous, to me.

No. Aside from his physical fitness, I don't think he will be cognitively competent - you could argue he isn't now, but 4 years is a long time and I suspect by then he will only be competent enough to be a Fox News guest.

This talk of him running in 2024 might keep his base happy, but is very unlikely imo

This man will be in no condition to rum in four years. Plus, there could be all those pesky indictments stealing focus...

Does this make Republican senators more likely to vote to ban him from running for office?

It might be quite helpful the the GOP if Trump couldn't actually get elected again.

Nah, partisan demographics have shifted considerably from the Bush Jr. era (recent results in Georgia and Arizona are clear signs of this). MAGA was what was giving the GOP some edge at this late stage in said shift. The way the GOP is moving now, their electoral prospects are becoming increasingly dim. A division will mean that the likely already lost GOP will have nowhere near a majority, rather than just short of a majority, which practically isn't drastically different.

The GOP's coming demographic problem:
The US will become ‘minority white’ in 2045, Census projects
Youthful minorities are the engine of future growth
