We're now getting mixed reports of the warnings being cancelled then reissued!

Either way, I think the worst is over.

I can come out from under the bed!

Poor Samoa, I can't image the hell of a wave 3m heigh and less than half an hours warning! Reports are coming in of many deaths.

I really don't want to be alarmist PUP but my understanding is that there can be gaps of up to an hour between waves. Please stay safe.

Yes, that's true, the news has just issued another warning.

There is a second wave coming, that's expected to be larger!

We're now being told it'll only be about another meter heigh wave... so we're thinking it's OK due to the small size.

I can't believe then number of people actually heading down to the beaches!

The tsunami warning has been cancelled.

The wave in places was only 40cm (16") heigh here, the one the hit Samoa was nearly 3m (9'8").

Now you know why the people in your dream just stayed in their houses and acted like nothing happened. The quake occurred but no action was required for the people of NZ (thankfully!).

Next time this happens, please put Peter Jackson and Kiri Te Kanawa into a lifeboat on top of a mountain just to be safe.

Thankfully my dream was very different, even if it was very graphic.

So far, they think one Kiwi died, they were on holiday in Samoa when the tsunami struck. A few Aussies died there too.

Tonga was also damaged by the wave... but by far the worst hit was Samoa and American Samoa. Only about a hundred dead by current figures which considering the wave reached height of 8m (26') in places, is very small.

The quake registered all over NZ, but we didn't feel it.

These has to be one of the shit thing about living in the pacific ring of fire.

Lots of people here were panicked at first but then laughed when they were told the wave may only be a meter heigh. What they don't think about is it may only be a meter heigh, but it's also kilometres in length!

With enough power being it to fold a car in half!

It could have been much worse. :frown1:
