My McAfee protection is telling me that tube8 is a security risk. It wasnt before and now all the sudden it is.

Does anybody know what anything about this? Is the website virus prone? To bad because I have a few good bookmarks there.

Don't get too complacent about that. I have a mac and with our increasing popularity we are now prone to viruses which are targeting mac users, specifically file sharing, attachments etc. I ran my anti virus software on my powermac and I found several trojan viruses, and some malware.

Be forewarned...

I would stay away from there for a day or so until they get it sorted out. Some script kiddie probably got in and left a trojan on their site.

A big site like that should have it cleaned up shortly.

Every once in a while my Zone Alarm Firewall freaks out and aborts the connection.
Luckily between Zone Alarm, and Avast Antivirus, and a Firewall Router, Im fairly rock solid.
I've got other free tools and utilities too that I use, but...Yea.. Porn is not worth loosing your files over.
Stick to sites where you know you won't have issues.

Same problem with empflix over the last week or two. Get that popup which says your PC is infected, click here to fix the issues.

Many of these kind of 'viruses' are not actually viruses at all. They are termed 'scareware' - they attempt to make you believe that you have a virus, and get you to download a program to remove it. Such programs may either charge you for these services or even may contain viruses / malware themselves.

Ensure you have trusted, reliable, up-to-date anti-virus / anti-malware protection installed on your computer before accessing these sites.

FROM TNAFLIX.COM:
Some of you might have noticed weird popups clameing their computer was infected with some malware and they need to buy some anti virus.

This was because some advertiser on our site had bad morals. We immedtiately removed the ad as soon as we found out of course!

We are dedicated to bring you the best experience when it comes to streaming porn and that includes a clean site.

Appologizes to everyone who was confused by those ads and thank you to everyone who reported this, it shows how much you guys care about this community :)

Kudos to them for kicking those assholes out. "Bad morals"? Talk about the understatement of the year. It's not "SCAREWARE" either because its much much worse. I call it "RANSOM-WARE". They kidnap your computer (or at least they lead you to believe its been taken from you) and then tell you they can get it back to you for a price. And in most cases, just like a real kidnapping victim, your computer may never be the same after all of that. Can you believe this is someone's idea of 'marketing'? Jeez.

Incorrect. It is a common mistake to believe that Macs are immune to viruses.

They are not inherently at any less risk, but Mac programs are not pirated nearly as much because of their lack of popularity, so you have fewer Mac users getting infected pirate programs from dodgy torrents.

Macs are great for design and calculations, but you only need this kind of machine if you are a professional in your field, and need a powerful computer like the Mac Pro 8 Core for example.

However if you just like playing with Photoshop, its hardly worth the $5,000.

Also while a Mac is powerful, it has the drawback of severely reduced compatibility with many progams. On a personal note, I find that Apple's attempt to "simplify" the desktop and basic functions have actually made the interface less user friendly. Also I can't stand the tacky, cheesy, Pixar-style desktop animations.

Unless you are going for a real beast like the Mac Pro for professional work, in which case you don't need compatibility with multiple programs, because such a machine should have minimal software on it. Only enough to perform the required tasks.

I wholeheartedly disagree. I have been a PC user from 1998-2009 and a Mac user for about 8 months now. I built my dad's PC from scratch for crying out loud. Based on what I have experienced, the ONLY way I would recommend a PC over a Mac is for a longtime PC user that plans on using it offline, permanently. But anyone relatively new to computing or plans on having it connected to the internet would be stupid to buy a PC. I feel stupid for waiting so long to switch. PC's just don't work. Macs do.

But if you ABSOLUTELY have to have a PC for whatever reason, you simply MUST purchase all the software outright, and buy a separate hard drive and remember to constantly backup your primary hard drive. That way WHEN (not if) your computer breaks, you can format the hard drive and reload the OS and all your applications. After all that work, it will be like a brand new PC! How fun!

Or you could just avoid all that expense, time, worry and headache and just buy a computer that WORKS.

By the way, I haven't tried Numbers yet (Mac version of MS Excel) but Keynote (Mac version of Powerpoint) absolutely BLOWS Powerpoint away! Honestly I'd be surprised if Numbers did the same to Excel but who knows. Either way I am more than thrilled with my Mac.

I have, in the distant past, contracted trojans from all of the following sites

Tube8 (1)
Pornhub (1)
Fark (2)
Peachy Forums (3 of the damn things)

In every case, it wasn't the webhost, but instead was nasty crap in one of their ads.

Fark cleaned theirs almost immediately, the other websites listed were much slower to get it taken care of (it took Pornhub almost a month).

Keep your virus scanners as current as possible... it's just one of the risks of websurfing.

There are many variables. What sites you visit, if you use AV programs, how good your firewall is.

My brother is studying computer science at uni, and the class had a discussion on this. The lecturer told them that Macs are no more immune simply because of the OS. Your experience might have been better, but that does not mean the average Mac user's experience is.

I'm not saying I'm right, just going on what the lecturer said, who probably knows more about it than you or I.
