I dont blame people for disliking tattoos or peircings, its a personal opinion, just like being tattooed or peirced is. I myself have my ears peirced and streched, have a tattoo and i plan to get more tattoos and stretch my ears bigger. As for finding them attractive, yes i do, i just dont like alot of facial peircings ie. eyebrows and lips, but setums and monroes are hot

I have a theory that people who tattoo/pierce their bodies have body and self-image issues. The more tattooed or pierced, the bigger issues. In some way they feel they aren't beautiful enough or attract enough positive attention as is, and feel they must add the artwork. I find it especially sad when a handome, built man or strikely beautiful woman has defiled their body with some silly tattoo.

That was true in my case -- I was in physical therapy from a major accident when I got my first piercing, and I looked on the experience as a way to reassert some control over my body.

But it's a real overgeneralization to suggest that's true for everyone, and I'm saddened to see you offer that suggestion. It's the same kind of bad psychology that we get on here from people who claim that well-hung guys are more conceited or less giving in bed. The desire to mark oneself can arise from a variety of motivations -- low self image is only one such possibility.

so tattoos are definitely sexy. My girlfriend had one right under her belly-button...i love it, let me tell you.

Girls with the obligatory, cliche lower back tattoo are a definite turnoff. Especially if it's a butterfly or anything with wings.

It was directly underneath her belly-button...it was still sort of, as you call it, cliche...it was a heart....but no wings, if that counts for anything in your book.

We all try to make ourselves more beautiful with clothes and makeup, but unlike tattoos those can be removed.

And a PA??? You can't take a leak normally. Urine shoots out it weird directions. Why would anyone want to do that to his penis?

Im sorry but after having read this comment i had to say something.

So what your trying to say is that some one that has spent months working with an artist on designs and a lot of $$, "obviously" MUST have issues?

I think if you(and the general public) view tattoos as something for the masses with problems, or who ended up on the wrong side of the tracks, then you have the problem mate.

Some people grew up in a "normal family", in a "normal lifestyle", etc.
I for one havent ended up depressed, on medication, and dont have low-self esteem, i balance a full time uni, part time job, sport, active social life (too much lol).

Some people get tattoos because we love art, because we may want to set ourselves apart, or we may want just something that is our own that we helped create, at the end of the day you could lose everything, im taking my skin with me. Now while i dont consider myself "heavily" tattooed, i easily have the most space on my body tattooed(back job and both arms just above the elbows), what i have done isnt on me to show of to help build my self-esteem, what i have done i can keep hidden its artwork for ME, no one else, its what i enjoy, not what you do.

so ask your self: "Who are you to judge me?"

in closing id like to add a quote i once read that i liked: "A tattooed person doesn't care if the other person has tattoos, why is it not the other way round?"

I've never knowingly gone out with anybody who had tattoos or piercings. (I have gone out with a few, only to later discover they were tattooed or pierced.)

I don't want to deal long term with a person whose negative self-image and group-think leads them to desecrate their body with tattoos and piercings, while thinking it's making them more beautiful or desirable.

Just let me explore a plain naked body, thank you!

I like tattoos that are original and cool, some just make a person uglier.
Some facial piercings look like warts until you get close.
I'd like to try a pierced tongue BJ though!

It's called Gooseflesh, or more often, Goosebumps.

Small tattoos can be cool but I don't have any nor do I think I ever would. Beyond ears I don't find piercings at all appealing, and some....AAAGH!! but that's entirely personal, each to their own.

you obviously are a closed minded asshole

maybe if you read this whole thread instead of making blanket judgements of a mass of people you would accutally learn something

haveing tattoos and piercings has nothing to do with a low self image or self esteem....if anything it would show a very strong worth of self to be able to set yourself apart from "normal" society and do what you want to do with your body without care of what the fuck some uptight asshole has to say about it

who are you to judge what others to with there body honestly.....i just shows you have issues of your own that you chose to belittle and talk down to a group of people you know NOTHING about

its not really as bad as one would thing

piecing is really quick and is only a split second pinch and thats it most people sike themselves up to much and when its over will say well that wasnt bad at all

scarification on the other hand can be somewhat painfull but again not as bad as you would think......surgical scalpels are used to make the cutting so they are very sharp so its more of just a burning sensation then anything.......but they still do hurt.......but if you want the end product you just learn to deal with the pain........sometimes you just have to grit your teeth and bear it

i have a scarification on my side that was probably the most painful thing i have ever gone through......and my way of dealing with it was to curse more then anyone you have ever heard......call my friend doing it horrible names......and to punch myself in the face and pull my hair

but it was worth it to me.......and meant more to me that i could go through that and have something to show for it.......alot of people get scarification as a symbolism.....sort of like well i went through this pain and i am still here so i can do anything.....sort of like people walking on fire

Obviously you know me well. And you are? (other than an ad hominem bully...)

warwithscars said:

I read the entire thread. (Note my comment is posted at the end, not in the middle of the thread.)

I expressed my opinion, based on my experience, among people I've met, and with whom I've interacted. I don't care if you agree; I present my experiences as an alternative, and a repudiation of your over-broad generalizations.

I do, however, wonder why you solicit opinions, and then degrade those with whom you disagree. Perhaps evidence of your own closed-mindedness?

(And, by the way, I corrected your spelling. Your illogic and punctutation is intact.)

That statement does not jibe with my experience, or reflect the lives of those whom I have met who have been tatooed, pierced, or otherwise modified in an attempt to set themselves apart from one society by conforming to another.

I am me. Nothing more. I think you protest too much.

AND I APPRECIATE YOUR USE OF CAPITAL LETTERS, in a vain attempt to add emphasis and weight to an argument whose logic is insufficient.

Now, you may return to talking to yourself.

I am basically going to respond all of the nonsense you speck with one thing

i never said you couldn't have your own opinion.....if you don't like piercing and tattoos....i could care less hate them and don't get them whatever

but when you make blanket statements about a group of people that cross all social and economic devides then that is when ill say something

you saying that people with tattoos and piercing have low self esteem and a low self image is just like saying all black people like chicken and watermelon....or all Chinese people are good at math

were it could be true a few might fall into that category that doesn't make it true for the entire population......and to say so be it about blacks or Chinese or modified people for that matter......is closed minded and ignorant and i still stand by that

and i thanks for trying to avoid the subject and give you more weight by shifting your arguments over to my spelling and grammar......this is not fucking high school English.....you know what i am saying and thats all that matters

i don't really care to argue with you anymore on this matter or any of you for that matter......i have been saying for a while that the group isn't what it use to be its just filled with conservative uptight assholes that dont realize freedom of expression is inherent and know one has the right to belittle people for it

case in point the very rude and saddening comments directed at the founder of this fourm a few months ago

So folks who have tats and piercings have body and self image issues...the more or bigger the tats or piercings the bigger the issues....what a crock of shit. I would venture to guess all of us have body issues of some sort...how about the dude working out at the gym pumping up and getting huge muscles, how about the same dude watching what he eats, making sure he eats all the right stuff. How about all the folks on diets and getting plastic surgery..... I really think if questioned each of us might have "issues."

Now granted each of us has opinions, and IMHO what was said indicates someone with issues.
